Pretty sure we already have. We wouldn't be wasting all this money and time on contacting aliens if we didn't know they existed. They most likely helped our government with technology and we r trying to find other aliens to help us, or just get the aliens who helped us in the past back

You sound like that guy from History channel...
Wether they contacted us or not we won't know.
Telsa is responsible for all our technology ,but he claims he got information from what felt like intelligent signals so I would guess . If they contacted us , they contacted only him so far.
And I would disagree with everything you guys state , nobody can know for sure so you can only guess.

The misc and authors of this article must have no idea how long it takes light to travel between star systems. We are talking centuries to hold a conversation if there is even intelligent life near by capable of communicating with us.
I highly doubt such a race would bother to come all the way here just to kill us. The reality of such a mission is enormous, as they are still limited by the laws of physics."Good news is rare these days, and every glittering ounce of it should be cherished and hoarded and worshipped and fondled like a priceless diamond." We do. A planet, that is inhabitable for billions of years already. We know we'd eventually have to move from here. That would likely be the case with planets with life and their suns in our vicinity too-expiration date. If there were any. Someone would have come to live here by now.

If anything we don't know what they'd want. The most plausible answer to this is for them to observe and gather information about our planet's resources/existing lifeforms.
Thing about "aliens" is you have to think beyond what your normal parameters would be. their body might not be carbon based, or require(most likely will) different atmospheric/gravity and pressure conditions.. All these will most likely rule out any interest in our planet beside what i noted first.
Like the quote below is exactly what I'm talking about. People like to "humanify" aliens like they would drink water and need oxygen.
And for them hating us for our selfish immoral ways, well we don't know if they could possibly have emotions to "hate" but most likely they understand the fact we our a very young species on a very young planet. But if they are only after resources then the state of our civilization would be meaninglessLast edited by Growlove21; 02-15-2015 at 03:58 AM.

they probably already had in the past brahs. think about it, our ancestors always admire the 'people of the skies' and called them gods, what if that say gods were actually aliens?
mind blowing
and it my be impossible for them to come over, you all are forgetting something that our world have that only our world have, virus and bacterias, their bodies probably don't have defenses against them.★★★ I was part of the Ultra 2014 Thread Crew ★★★

da fuk Stephen?
In 2010, Britain’s Professor Stephen Hawking warned that aliens could exploit our resources.
“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when [Christopher] Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans,” he said.fukn Brozart

First of all there are many scenarios that could happen incase we contact aliens:
1)The aliens land on Earth and initiate First Contact, it sparks off an almost-instinctive human paranoia of alien invasion and ulterior motives in the aliens contacting us, so it's potentially very bad. Imagine the chaos on Earth cities of paranoids *******s being scared and afraid and start to plunder and rape through cities.
2)Earth is a rare jewel in a galaxy full of death rocky/icy or gas planets...the aliens give zero craps bout humans and say this planet and it's rich recourses is theirs now and we can suck it up or die....you can already guess what happens...no human want to be a slave
3)Aliens are peaceful and want to exchange tech with us and therefor we become more advanced
4)Earth becomes a labaratory where aliens observe and experiment with humans and animals...think about what we humans do to our animals brb putting em in cage in zoo's or eating them
5)More possible infinite amount of scenarios that could happen
Which retarded clown on Earth wants to risk our species to contact a potential agressive species with bad intentions...please for what reason???Sure they might be peaceful...but the chances that they are violent exist and therefor it's not worth for that risk to contact them
We don't need aliens...we can advance ourselves into a higher tier. Maybe one day we might stumble on them....but i would rather want that happen when we are spacefaring and have multiple planets instead of being stuck on a single phucking rock.

And thinking ''beyond'' Hollywood crap:
Maybe they don't need anything. We are now, what, 50k years from the start of the ''real'' intelligence, couple hundred years into real technology and studying the universe. And we are NOT that far away from downloading our brain onto something and living forever. That's GONNA happen. Eventually we are gonna overcome the God crap and we will be machines or something. Who knows. Who knows what form we will have. In that form, maybe we wont need resources or anything from a planet such as Earth.
Back to Hollywood. If you were alien wanting to visit another planet(given the possibility), you would do first exactly what we are doing/did with the Moon, Mars etc. NOT send a person first.
And don't even get me started on alien abductions. Such a thing makes no sense whatsoever.bb.com, a place that turned Deadlift into a forearm isolation exercise

You guys all missed one point. That is the more advanced lifeforms are, the less ruthless and more reasonable they will be. If they can reach us, they won't harm us. Civilized interaction between individuals in a population is required for that population to advance. Those qualities will remain the same when they interact with humans.

More advanced=/=more reasonable
Look at the humans...most advance species of the planet and the most violent
Civilized interaction between individuals in a population is required for that population to advance. Those qualities will remain the same when they interact with humans.
There isn't only one scenario that could happen when we contact them...it's a hundred..some violent, some peaceful and some mixed ones....whatever it is we cannot gamble our lives for that. We don't need aliens.

It's the misc, which unfortunately is like a sample of what everyday people are like.. you see trends on here and they sure enough pick up steam if they haven't already in real life aka do you even lift crap, height/facial aesthetics obsession etc.
On topic:
I think I'd rather look than not
Is there a chance we run into a violent alien race? Sure, we might actually run into a genuine one though that will help and solve most of our problems given the chance
Our current system is terrible and doomed for failure anyway. The monetary system designed around more and more and more debt and more and more rich get richer and poor get poorer... I mean we're gonna kill each other off if the aliens don't anyway, might as well take a shotActually prefer Plato crew
