Performing the big lifts is a skill. Skills take practice. Most misses happen when form breaks down. Improving efficiency and safety will do as much if not more for you than building true, raw strength in this sport.

No program, or diet, or form/technique advice has ever or will ever be as crucial to my success as the result of those words.

It'd be like staying fat while running marathons because it's more impressive to finish a marathon when you're overweight. It might be impressive in the short run, but in the long run it just doesn't make any sense. ~breathinglife

Thanks, I mean, I don't just hit the gym 3 times a month or anything, I still train decently hard. I know people, and have training partners, who will have a meltdown if they have a bad workout or miss a lift, this hobby that costs us so much should always be based around enjoyment, if you aren't having fun, aren't being paid and aren't becoming famous, then why do it at all?

This is a great post. That's what I tell bros that are having anxiety attacks before going to the gym. If you aren't having fun you'll burn out pretty quickly and likely quit all together.
