In no way could I see a correlation between the two, but I have done 0 research into it to be honest.

Even if you find studies that correlate the two, they usually don't take into account other possible causes such as COPS, and the ways to limit the effects of COPS etc etc.

    Thank you,

Yes I have become a vegeterian and I'm trying to eat every leafy green I can get my hands on.

Last year I ate the most meat I have ever eaten and I still wasn't hitting my protein macros. And I wasn't eating alot, maybe 80 grams of protein per day split over 6 meals.

My ovulation stopped and I strarted having pains, the doctors found 3 cysts, one is 4 cm (that is the size of my friends baby, she is 3 months pregnant!) eating meat was the only thing that changed in my diet so I did some google reseraching and found 1 or 2 sites that said there is a correlation so wasn't sure if that was the case. Thank you for sharing that reserach article. I cannot prove it, but I 100% think that these cysts are from eating so much meat last year.

Just a warning to other women... try to get your protein from other sources other than meat if you can.

PCOS (not sure if that's what you may have) can result from undereating/overexercising.

inb4 this turns into a trouser gravy thread.

You realize a million things, or combination of things, can cause ovarian cysts, right? And lots of things can stop ovulation. I don't know what your BF is but if it's low enough at your height/weight, amenorrhea isn't uncommon. Are you on BCPs? Another factor. And I see from some of your past posts that you like to drink wine. Another factor. Health issues are rarely attributed to a single source of causation.

There was a study done in 2009 by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that suggested processed meat was likely to cause ovarian cancer compared to other meats like poultry and fish. However, the study was so broad and didn't take into account anything like exercise or lifestyle. If you're referring to that article published, it was so broad and full of rubbish you really can't believe it. They did little research and gave little to no factual evidence based on their studies. The result actually stated they found no direct links between red meat and ovarian cancer. Which leads to what other posters have said, cancer in any forms/illnesses, can steam stem from many sources and may not just be form one single entity.

I could have sworn the key correlation in the thread title was over consumption. Merely glancing at a nibble-sized fragment on a plate won't cause cysts -- it's not weapons-grade Plutonium 239, FFS.

Oh yes absolutely! But as I was saying, the only thing that changed in my diet was that I started eating more meat than before, and a couple of months later I had ovarian cysts.

I am not on bith control.

As I said, I cannot prove it, but I think that the cysts are from eating too much meat.

Yes yes yes agree. It doesn't have to be from eating meat but I think it is from that so I am now trying to eat less meat. Nothing wrong with that.

No that is not what I have but out of interest I just finished reading Low GI diet for POS by Professor Jennie Brand-Millers. and from what I have read it is caused from overeating and not exercising enough. I'm sure both extremes can cause POS.

Nothing wrong with that, either. I'm not sure if doctors could even tell you where your cysts stemmed from. But, hey, you can always get your protein from other sources including beans and nuts, dairy, tofu, oats, etc. Not everyone has to scarf down their protein in meat-form. To each their own.

After spending 1 year in a leading cancer research hospital researching drugs and other female cancer issues I have never read nor heard of any correlation between cysts and red meat. Take that for what you will.
