At what point in your life did it dawn on you that you were unattractive/ugly?

I've been following this thread for a while and I don't even remember if I posted in it, but here's my first post:

There were two parts of my life where I realized I wasn't attractive to girls. First, being in 6th/7th grade when all my friends started getting girlfriends. I still haven't had a genuine girlfriend at twenty-two while all those friends are now getting engaged and married. Secondly, in high school when girls started picking on me by calling me ugly. Guys would make fun of me too, but it hurt more when a girl would flat out call me ugly while I was walking down the hallway. I distinctly remember this one girl I haven't ever even talked to asked, "How are you so ugly?"

I started working out in high school and gained a lot of size and cut a lot of bodyfat. I sadly reached my peak around 19/20 and it's been a steady decline ever since. Muscle maturity has NOT worked in my favor. But, even with an above-average physique it's useless. If you have a below-average face, then no matter how great your body is..you will never be deemed attractive.

not necessarily it depends on the individual. unless you're trying to get those 10/10 girls. you should be good for decent girls.

Hmm..from my experience I don't think I have an attractive body from a girl's perspective. I tend to be very blocky now, and it doesn't help that I'm only 5'8.

5,8 is not short and is a decent height. most girls i see on average are 5,4. you have a nice build what type of girls you seeing? have you tried going for the ok looking girls first. i think you been seeing the snotty pretty girls.

I think that the more homely girls have a very low self esteem and that they give you a disgusted look because they are intimidated by you. They feel you are out of their league.It's possible that the chick at the gym gave you a disgusted look at the water fountain because you had ignored her when she was staring at you when you were doing pull-ups and you made her feel unattractive or rejected. The disgusted look could be just a defense mechanism.

Most women I have known including the very attractive ones have a lot of underlying insecurities. You probably have to find tune your approach. If you give an attractive girl a warm, genuine smile, and initiate a conversation in the same warm and friendly manner I don't see how she could be offended or disgusted.

its not so bad being rejected or turned down, but being ignored and receiving dirty looks kinda hurts.. makes me feel sub-human.

It's important to note that there were about three different divisions represented in this event. The guy who won my division isn't in this video but he got 12 full reps; I did 12 but the 12th didn't count because it was a second after the timekeeper called it. You can hear me swear after I realize it was no good lol

Tbh, probably not. I can't really tell you of a single girl that has ever shown interest in me irl..whether glancing at me, verbally acknowledging a positive quality (not even looks, but anything), etc.

I first realized it after my first girlfriend and I split in high school. Since then I either don't pick up on when a girl is flirting with me or I have no idea what the hell to talk about for a convo or even to flirt in general. I work with dudes all day everyday and my training partners are dudes so I have very little female interaction hahah. FA crew.

Yeah, the middle school age range is a very crucial point in an individual's life. A lot of insecurities are developed at this age. What makes this worse is that children at this age still haven't fully developed an understanding of empathy, so they're ruthless.

I don't think too many adults would outright call some person they don't know ugly on the street, but you better bet that a 14 year old will in school..

Yeah, school was definitely the worst time of my life. Only 2 friends, and we mostly just played Chess or read books and then talked about them (kind of our own little book club). I think I asked out 3 girls total, all of which publicly made fun of me for it which only resulted in greater bullying by the guys. Never told oneitis that I liked her.. barely even talked to her, and then it was only because we were both in band class together. She's married now with kids, but still looks damn near the same at age 34 as she did at 17. Still a 10/10 to me (misc standards.. probably a 6 but whatever).

I'm actually curious about this:

I've noticed that below/average looking girls will glance at me while they're looking around aimlessly. For example, on the subway you'll look around and look at some people. I noticed that non-attractive girls will freely look at everyone, including me, but I've noticed that attractive girls make a conscious effort NOT to look at me. So if they're going through a straight line of sight, they'll look above me and then return to their line of sight. If that makes sense..

Do you guys notice that?

Of course, I feel as though I'm falling in line with the mindset that so many girls have about me. I don't know if that unattractive girl I didn't pay any mind might be a pediatric oncologist who's the sweetest and compassionate person on the planet. But I'm making these subconscious decisions to dismiss these girls because of their appearance not falling in line with what I deem "attractive."

Try your own parents. Think I was in/around 4th grade when my mother told me "we really needed to look into having surgery to "pin" your ears back."

I'm actually still the same way, to some extent. I mainly spend my weekends alone studying and I only have two true friends, one being too busy with work to do anything and the other one about to be engaged and too busy with her for me. We actually have a book club, but mainly done through text.

I asked out a lot of girls in middle school and I got rejected each and every single time. I think that's why I'm so terrified about asking a girl out. I made some progress and asked a girl I know to a gala yesterday, but she told me "maybe." Which, to me, means no but it's too far in advance for her to have an excuse lol

They're probably at the root of a lot of my insecurities. They don't really call me out on stuff anymore since they're aware I'm self-conscious, BUT they will still do it from time to time. And it stings every single time

But, I'm not anti-social. I'm a part of organization at school and have no problem striking up conversations with random people. I always end up having a group of acquaintances in my classes, but they never develop into actual friendships.
