not sure how this guy got hired to talk at Georgia Tech, or maybe he volunteered. but this guy spews big words that don't make sense at all.

Maybe he's a student in the class? The kid seems awfully impressed with himself, but I'm a college professor and students who learn a few terms and think they know it all are not rare.
I do get sick of people like this kid concentrating on how wrong everyone else is instead of focusing on how to do it right. Why waste a class listing everything you think is wrong? Plus, he uses "I" a lot, like we're supposed to care what he thinks.
We may all have been twits at that age but golly he comes across as unlikeable.

I watched the entire video.
Remember he's talking about hypertrophy only, I can't say that he's wrong on any of his comments actually.
If you're going to bash the kid at least watch the whole video, and I didn't think he came off arrogant at all.
Just because he's not the most jacked guy on the planet doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's saying. For many years the guy that was considered the top kicking coach for football kickers was a guy who'd been in a wheelchair his entire life. Was friends with Methuselah

He's a bad influence on young people getting into weight training and I have commented such on his YouTube video.
The bench press trains the Pectoralis Major; the pressing movement adducts the arms an the shoulder joint. Plus the higher load contributes to muscle hypertrophy greater than the isolation movements he advocates.
The bent row trains the latissimus dorsi: the rowing movement activates the extend of the arms at the shoulder joint..hypertrophy made possible with heavy loads.
The Hamstring's biceps femoris long head, semitendinosus, and Semimembranosus extends the thigh as the hip joint, and cannot be ruled out as an exercise for the hamstrings. Upper hamstrings activation is similar to the lying leg curl.Last edited by JerryB; 02-07-2015 at 02:18 AM.
How can you visualize training a muscle if you don't know its structure?

First of all, I thought this was just a random video of some kinesiology student doing a class presentation. Are you saying you've heard of him before?
Totally agree that a person's own physique is not necessarily a measure of how good of a coach they are.
My problem with this guy is that his whole talk is about how stupid everyone except him is. Why not just tell us how to do things effectively?

Sadly this droning windbag has a small degree of popularity with The Kids, only with the group of fat and/or skinny basement dwellers known as "neckbeards" who idolize him and Jason Blatard (another internet expert who looks like he just joined Planet Fitness as a New Years resolution)
Going on their posts I suspect many of their fans are even further along the autism spectrum than Ian and Jason

[QUOTE=silverlightning;1337687131]he makes assumptions and generalizations that everyone else agrees with his points of view and/or everyone is doing it wrong. he's POV is absolute. he acts likes he's been lifting for 10 plus years
He's delusional about his knowledge of weight training. I was a junior college teacher for 10 years. I find the guy disgusting as an instructor. How can you visualize training a muscle if you don't know its structure?
