After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

He pulled 901 raw in a meet at 220, that's true enough. I have not seen the bench video to tell whether it was paused and how much he weighed, but I'm going to guess his training best was not at 220. As for the squat, same deal only there's no video.
His best equipped total at 220 in gear was 961/584/901(r). Call me crazy, but something tells me that he knew what he was doing well enough to get just a biddle tit more than 50 lbs. out of a suit and wraps and 30 lbs. out of a shirt. Ipso facto, your statement was not true. Not as crazily inaccurate as comparing Ernie Jr. to Coan and/or Eric, but false nonetheless.
We're off topic here, I agree Coan was the GOAT, and I still love you you crazy little Canuck.

He's said in a bunch of interviews that he got like 5-10kg out of his shirt. Squat gear was obviously more helpful.
He did get a lot of his best training done at 220 since he got injured, then moved up to 242 and was "limited" by that while being heavier. Also can't forget about the 400lb BTN press lol. Wish I could remember in which interview he talked about his 900x2 squat, but there are a hell of a lot of interviews of Coan lol.

I only ever said that his raw strength was "about" as good as Eric's, didn't say he coulda put together a 2353 total with no wraps. Maybe about 2300 would've happened. ALl speculation though. I don't have any problem seeing him pausing that 550 in the video for a single when it was a stupidly easy double, and a 901 dl was done in comp, so that's 1451. Which leaves him with an 849 no wrap squat to hit 2300.
However this is all off topic anyway and no one is disagreeing on the original premise of Coan whooping the most ass in powerlifting history.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

690lb x 3, in sleeves, 51yo, double hip replacement.....
Got to spend a fair bit of time with Ed that weekend, as well as attend a 5hr hands on lifting seminar run by him. He is one of the most humble men I've ever met. Hopefully he's coming to Nationals again this year along side Stan Efferding227.5kg(502lb) Bench - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSng_nGiKw4

lol have you ever seen an old school bench shirt? Lol they're crazy and give maybe 30lbs and squat suits I think 50lbs was the most carry over. The whole point of the suits and shirts were just to keep all your **** together lol.
Shoulders and vulnerable during bench
hips are vulnerable when you squat
how do you give both support? Bench shirts and squat suits. The ability to allow you to do more weight was then taken advantage ofBench 402 (ace)/ 385 (440 in slingshot)
Squat 600 (predators + frantz canvas) / 441lbs
Dead lift 551 (super centurion+ predators) /578lbs
Power Clean 100kg x 8
Vertical 29in
