Thank God he had locks on his cardboard door. That impeded the intruders entry by at least 2 seconds.

Purpose of those locks is to establish defense and alarm you. Otherwise he would open the door normally and shooting would look worse, forcing him to break it makes it clear who is aggressor.

in the article it says they put it up because they heard the chit happening upstairs which you can hear them discussing. when he cam in and got shot he probably fell on it causing it to be covered or pointed into something like a blanket. Dont think the girl had anything to do with it

ive learned from my cop friends that its best to shoot and kill intruders. they were telling me stories about home/apt owners shooting intruders and end up getting sued or paying for their health bills for the rest of their lives.
