Do I need to drink a protein shake anymore?

I used to drink protein shakes to help get my protein intake up. My diet used to be bad and I would eat a lot of junk food.

I use a calorie counting app so I know exactly how many grams of protein, carbs, and fat I eat each day.

I weight about 138 lbs. So I try to eat around 120 grams of protein per day. The way I used to eat, I was only getting around 80-90 grams per day, so I would drink a 30-g protein shake to help get me to that number.

However, recently, I have started to eat better. I have completely eliminated empty calories and junk food from my diet. I only eat meals and healthy snacks. I have also noticed that since this change, I have been eating more foods with protein, and now I have no trouble getting to the 120 grams per day.

I haven't drank a protein shake in weeks because I don't want to take in too much protein to the point where it's wasted and/or puts unnecessary strain on my kidneys. I drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of meat and dairy products, so I get all my protein from that stuff now. And I take in about 120 grams per day without any protein supplement.

So do I even need to drink a protein shake anymore?

Protein shakes are not necessary. And aim for 1gram of protein per pound of bodyweight.

You weigh 138lbs, then aim for 138g protein.

1 gram per pound is too much imo,i weight around 193 and I eat around 125 grams per day...and no,protein shakes are not needed if you already reached your protein needs.

You are probably eating too much protein anyway. Or at least, more than you need.

But to answer your question. If you are getting enough protein from your food, there is no need to supplement it.

Protein shakes are just for convenience. If you can get all your protein from real food then keep doing it!
Learn and educate yourself on how to do it properly

First of all protein shakes are there IF u need to reach your protein number. If u want serious mass fast, u can take 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight or even 1.25 gram per pound of body weight. And u can take about 150 -200 or even more carbs to help building to make sure all your protein is used to build.

Disregard everything you've read/heard about nutrition and read the stickies in the nutrition section.

After reading the bolded section its OBVIOUS that you need to do some research.

lol no. If a person wants serious mass it's all about calories in vs calories out.
