ITT: we own sh*tty cars because it's a horrible investment.

1993' Ford Probe crew checking in.

    Brb rusted out sh*tbox

Brb everyone tells me what a pos my car is

Brb loud as fuk driving anywhere

Brb bumper held on with wire ties

    Brb no air conditioning

Brb everything squeaks, car is a horrible ride

    Brb bad brakes

Brb insurance is $26 per month

Brb paid $1500 for it over 5 years ago and I still get back and forth to work. ( works out to ~$25 per month split up over the time I've owned it)

Enjoy your $200-$350 car payments and $100 on insurance every month
I woke up this morning still breathing. Might as well take advantage of it.

Working every day to be just a little stronger, healthier, or smarter than yesterday.

I love my 2004 corolla. Reliable, affordable, and gets me where I need to go. I rented a Volvo coupe convertible a few years ago while on vacation in California, which was nice, but I couldn't imagine owning something like that. Then again I'm not an attention seeking whore so I drive what's reasonable, not what's expensive and flashy.

I don't know why people seem to think fun cars have to be expensive, flashy and impractical.

You can get a low mileage 90-96' ZR1 for around $12,000 that will be hundreds of times funner to drive than a Corolla.

Why not just buy an Accord and not deal with chit breaking all the time. Sell it after a few years and repeat.

Fukk, used prices are higher than new car prices. Don't believe me? Check out CarMax and then look at any dealer that does Internet pricing.

A lot of dealers inflate their prices and people continue to buy used cars from them for the little hope of somewhat of a warranty ( that they usually never fulfill )

Same goes for private sellers too. You need to learn proper value of whatever it is you are looking for.

I can agree with this. I dont have a problem with people dropping under 10k on a car like a nice built fox body or ls1 camaro. Especially true if they actually go to the track and race or enjoy building the cars.

But people buying 40k dollar cars to drive to and from work like almost all people do is lame

ZR1? Do I look like I'm going through a mid life crisis? lol I'm jk, I'm sure it's a sweet ride, but I sit in traffic every day to and from work, and 15mpg city gas mileage is a waste.

True. Or you can just sell your car to these people.

Bottom line is that used cars are overpriced now due to the return of subprime auto lending.

    Examples?

Repping op. I've never had a car more than $13,000. Currently drive 2012 Chevy Cruze. 35 mpg. Cars are the worst purchases people make over their life. A new car loses up to 70% of its Value in just 4. Then trade it in and lose 70% on the next. It's an endless cycle and usually people only move up in car so the 70% number keeps getting larger and larger

Drive what you can afford. $350 a month car note may be a lot to you but to others it's not worth mentioning. There's something to be said about riding around in a nice luxury sedan (feelsgoodman.jpg). Newer cars are a lot safer in general.

You can get a low mileage 90-96' ZR1 for around $12,000 that will be hundreds of times funner to drive than a Corolla.
What I find funny about this comment is I would actually consider a 12k ZR1 expensive, flashy, AND impractical, lol.

You should really drive what you can comfortably afford.

I have no idea why someone would want to drive a car like the one described in the op. That is nothing to be proud of. Inb4 total failure and car crashes.

And cars are not investments. Houses are. No one buys a car expecting to make money off them unless they are a flipper.

I used to drive a 93 crown Vic before I bought this new car and oh boy what a difference. Vic felt like it would fall apart at any moment and was very unstable. Something so sweet about driving a new car.

lol at thinking just because we dont waste money on car payments means we cant afford them.

Ill ride my truck into the ground before I buy a different car(probably 3-4 more years) and after that if I want a safe car Ill buy an 04ish volvo s40 for 3-4k.
