In my opinion, supplementing does NOT reduce my respect for an individual. The reason being is because of what supplementing actually does.

I'll put it this way.. let us say someone takes in 400 grams of protein per day (almost 1 pound of protein per day) and they put on 7 pounds of lean muscle in one year.

They consumed almost 365 pounds of protein to put on that 7 pounds of muscle... so what happened to the other 358 pounds of protein? Where did it go? Some went towards other uses in the body, some went towards energy... a lot is wasted.

The supplementation signals the body to retain more of that protein you are consuming on a daily basis (more nitrogen retention). The food you eat now is partitioned better towards gaining muscle rather than being wasted away, so instead of holding on to 7 pounds of muscle, you might be able to hold on to 15 pounds of muscle instead.

You still have to work out just as hard, if not harder because you may need to lift heavier weights which is MORE stressful and taxing on the CNS (central nervous system). You have to continue to eat food just as before, if not MORE food to take advantage of the nutrient partitioning.

I have seen plenty of people supplement and gain nothing but some water.. why? Because they thought it was just that easy and didn't bother with the proper diet.

Having said all of that, you can see why I would not lose an ounce of respect for an individual if they use.... that is unless they claim they don't use anything at all when they clearly do.

Of course in this post I am talking about Gakic, Leukic, Creatine Magnesium Chelate, Essential Amino Acids with extra Leucine, Creatinol-O-Phosphate, Tribulus, ZMA, and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Illegal supplement talk is not allowed on this forum.
