my recent purchase included a powerblock straight and curl barbell. it turns out they're so worthless that Play it again Sports won't even buy them without the weights. not that i blame them; i was hoping they'd give me a few bucks for them and then could wait and sell them with the next set of powerblocks they get in. i still got a good deal for the blocks, but these things are now dead weight. i might give them away or just let them collect dust until i fulfill my dream of a full set of fixed dumbbells.
What have you got that's just sitting around?

What's the biggest waste of space in your gym?

My wife's car, taking up the second half of the garage when I could double my space LOL. I have had to trim the fat to get everything to fit. But the biggest waste of space I have had was a plate loaded Yukon Ab machine, total waste of time and a newb purchase.

I can't think of anything more useless than the Powerblock barbell attachments. I don't really have anything useless in my gym except standard plates. I don't use them but I have a handful of them. I also have more olympic plates than necessary so some of them aren't used.

well i knew that buying the package, just was hoping to get $50 bucks for them lol...the guy said he bought them new, and i cringed inside because i know they're $129+shipping each.
they don't spin
the knurling is aggressive enough to tear up your hands (maybe i have soft, womanly hands)
there's no convenient way to load them (you'd need to get 2 racks somewhere)Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

You could probably sell them on eBay but I'm not sure if you'd want to mess with shipping them

My gym is so maxed out with equipment that I carefully got rid of stuff that I wouldnt use and replace it with machines that I really enjoyed using. I wish I had more room I'd have sooooo much more stuff. I do have a wall of barbells that sits there unused, probably 10 of them

I don't really have any equipment that's not used. I just need a bigger space.
If I had to get rid of one piece, I'd get rid of my hammer strength decline bench.
But then I'd have to buy a better decline bench....lol"I heard that broken Ivanko revolvers can cure cancer... too bad no ones managed to break one." ProtienandIron

I have an Icarian seated calf and a Body Solid Cam Series Leg Extension/Curl that I use occasionally. I am constantly on the fence about getting rid of them as part of my internal conflict about whether I truly have space/desire for a Leg Press.

My biggest waste is an elliptical machine. Technically, one of my first pieces in my gym, but I hate it. My daughter and her friends use it whenever she's home from college. Only reason I keep it is because I don't feel like tearing it down to pull it out.

My Ironmasters don't see much use anymore, thankfully they don't take up much space, and the stand works good for holding water bottles. I also have an Elite FTS adjustable squat box that does a very good job of keeping the stereo off the floor. However since these two pieces barely take up 8 square feet of space, and one day I do intend to use them, I know I would regret letting them go.

Ironmasters with add on kit for me also. They are great, but since I have a full set of dumbbells I don't use them anymore. I'm just waiting for a 7' commercial rack to pop up then i'll sell them to fund the purchase.

I wouldn't say it is a waste of space - but for the amount i actually use my GHD and what it offers compared to other things I could do, I would say that. But it was too good a buy to pass up.

Don't really have anything just taking up wasted space. My gym has went through so many phases that I can finally say I am happy with every piece I have.
I have an incomplete set of York globes in the corner of my gym that are taking up space. If I can ever get a complete set I will begin using them. Nevermind, I though about what I just said...York globes have never been a waste of space.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #47

thanks for the posts. it's interesting to hear 2 people mentioning GHD's as (relative) space wasters.
i'm kind of at a spot where i need to save up some cash for some good deals, instead of actively hunting for stuff i need, so it's good to hear your guys' input.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

For me it is the 1960s York set that I restored. They are pretty to look at but I only use my Ivanko revolvers.
I have fostered them back to health and now they are ready for adoption. No, I'm not shipping them. That would be too cruel.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

I had the chance of picking up two of these about a year ago for $100 each, or possibly even less. A local coach had dropped them off at PIAS and told them to get whatever they could for them. They didn't want them and couldn't even fit them inside the store, so they just sat outside in a fenced area next to the parking lot.
The only waste of space in my gym is one of those POS Body Solid cam-loaded seated leg extension/curl machines. I replaced it with a BFS unit, so the BS is just taking up space in the other room. I ought to clean it up and post it on CL, along with a trap bar that hasn't been used in well over a year.Last edited by Stasher1; 01-08-2015 at 12:18 PM.

I've sold all 3 multiple times. I've had 3 or 4 hack/press and only used them for calf raises. When they sold I put a leg combo in, had 3 sold them shortly after. Sold 4 calf raises too. They always seem great. I always say it will be functional, never the case. If I had a big gym I'd have them, but for tight spaces/small gyms it's never worth it for me.
Walking a fine line my friend. Very fine.
Hai. I'm in. Will you ship to NJ?▪██─────██▪ Ivanko Barbell Crew #3 ▪██─────██▪
