This morning my complex gave me the 24-hour notice of entry. Tomorrow is the day they are checking smoke alarm batteries for the complex apparently. They will be entering between 9am and 5pm while I'm working.

My complex doesn't allow animals.

So far my options seem to be:

1) Try to hide all the cats in the walk-in closet and hope they don't make noise
2) Find someone willing to petsit 9 cats tomorrow while I'm at work, and bring them there tonight
3) Leave them and hope nobody notices

I hate to break it to you because you clearly have OCD, but obsession with constantly being clean/tidy is actually abnormal. Only psychopaths do that chit (srs). That being said, I have no clue how OP can stand to share an apartment with 9 cats. When I go to my aunt's house, who only has 2, it smells like rotten garbage because they're constantly peeing and pooping everywhere. Mind even more blown by the fact that there IS A LITTEBOX NEXT TO YOUR BED!!! How can you stand the smell while you're trying to sleep?

So I couldn't find anyone who would be home to watch all of them today, nor did I have enough cat carriers to bring them all to a kennel first thing this morning. So I did the next best thing.

My apartment only has a smoke alarm in the living room. So I moved all of the cats to the bedroom/bathroom area. To be safe, I went to Home Depot last night and got a locking knob for the bedroom door. Locked it before I left, so the maint. guy can't just wander in there. Hopefully they stay quiet. I left Pandora playing the Paul Simon station in the living room to drown out any possible meowing.

Think I did good?

Also, hope they all get along. Usually the two heards of cats don't co-mingle.
