I go to PF but mine is much different than most. 3 benches, squat rack, 26 45 lb plates, db up to 80 which works for me, many stand alone benches, I deadlift over 400 every week and nobody says anything, there's grunting and dropping weights, huge dudes lookin swole. Most are nothing like this though.

I'm guessing, for any gym, dedicated lifters account for only a small percentage of the total revenue. Most of their income is probably from casual gym goers, middle-aged to elderly people, and New Year's resolution people who quit before March. Then there's probably a lot of out of shape people who want to join a gym but don't because they are too intimidated.
So from a business standpoint, they are probably laughing all the way to the bank:
Set up a bare bones, franchise gym. Cater to this specific market while telling them what they want to hear - that they are keeping away the hardcore lifters. Profit!

read it, it was less than a page. if you want to cancel before 1 year is up, you pay $58.
I learned my lesson with contracts from cell phones and Golds Gym. Golds Gym requires a CERTIFIED LETTER mailed to their HEADQUARTERS to cancel a membership, period. Not even an early cancellation. and until their HQ "accepts" you letter, they can charge you monthly fees. They have up 90 days to "accept it" AFTER the receive it.

Its a decent gym...but the gyms vary from place to place with the equiptment they offer. Some will be decent and some will suck.
The misc always talks trash about it but for the price it is easily the best value.
THe location i go to does a good job...im not very strong n chit but i still see pretty swole and jacked dudes working out there...pretty sure they do what you do and go there for certain workouts.
