Great log you got going guys! The video's was something I had actually considered doing also but haven't. @blake2732 what makes you avoid proprietary blends? The answer may be obvious and what I'm thinking but just thought I'd ask just to see if it was something different.

Nice write up Blake..I look for basically the same thing..3 plus grams of beta-alanine is a must, I don't know of any PWO with that much in one serving so I usually take two..Agree with the killer flavor..Back in the day when I started this sport there weren't many supplements available to the general public and the ones that were, including protein powder, were in tablet form or powder that did not mix well and tasted kind of nasty!..I am pretty much sold on ProMera products. I do wish they would put Citrulline in their PWOs though..

Thanks man, I hope we string together something helpful for people!
I just find companies often end up overdosing some ingredients (the cheap ones) and underdosing others.
Plus, I simply want too know what I am taking.
If they are putting what they should be in the product then I don't see the point in creating a proprietary blend.
Companies have claimed that it's so people do not mimic their product, but I feel like that's just a cop out.

    Agreed my man!
I hate when people go with claims based off old crappy products and say stuff like "protein powder, gross, it tastes like vitamins"...
Maybe if you take the Wal-Mart protein, but there are some DANG GOOD tasting products on the market today in my opinion!

My weight is up by nearly two pounds, and it's only Day 5. My chest and back look a little fuller, and my triceps feel really strong. Soreness in my calves is finally gone - just in time to get sore there again! I really hope I'm not gaining a bunch of fat here.

My noms are prepared for the weekend. When I cooked the chicken yesterday, I portioned it out afterwards to about 180g per serving. That's nearly one-and-a-half servings, ideal for days off when I am supposed to have higher protein totals, and it ensures I get enough on non-recovery days. I think I'll have my bodyfat checked again next week just to be sure.

Had an amazing hike with my buddies this morning! It was supposed to be a quick 1/2 mile hike in, but we ended up adventuring a bit more than that... Climbed up and over hills from 1 until about 4 and ended up in the clouds... ok maybe it was just really dense fog.
NONETHELESS, beautiful way too spend my afternoon!

Passed on the movies after because you know I had to get my workout in!
(They saw American Sniper, heard great reviews, anyone seen it?)

Here is how I spent my Saturday evening!
Squats (165) and Incline DB Press (60's) super set for 10 sets of 10
Incline DB Curls (25's) and Tricep rope extension super set for 10 sets of 10
Followed by burnout sets on both^
Seated DB Lateral Raises 10*10 super set with Cable Crunches 10*10
THEN finished up with some HIIT, 6 rounds of 10 Box jumps followed by 6 100 meter sprints w/ 100 meter jog to recovery...

Great day today, but I am feel REAL EXHAUSTED NOW!
Laying low tonight, church, food, and hopefully some stretching tomorrow! ... Oh and I should probably do some homework haha.
    How's everyone else's weekend going?

PLUS My initial impressions using Beta-Cret, coming tomorrow!

I survived the first day of all that food! Saturday was my first day off on the 12 weeks, and I had to eat a TON of protein. Felt like I was eating all day. My boyfriend (Greg) couldn't believe how often I was eating. "That's crazy!" he'd keep saying. Today is more of the same. Next weekend I'm going to the Mr Chicago Leather event, and I won't be able to eat as often. They simply won't allow me to go in and out that much to eat in the car, and I can't carry it with me, and eating out is not the best option either. I may have to take that day off from the diet, just out of force.
I don't like to make excuses to be lax about it, but that's the reality. The Auto Show in February (which Greg wants to go to) will be of similar challenge.

My calves hurt once again, and this morning my chest was so tight I had to pop it when I got out of bed. It was a mighty POP! Don't think I moved off my back all night.

Keeping up with supplements and trying to stay on course. Gotta do some recovery yoga today in addition to all the other things I have to do. Oh, the joys of bodybuilding...

    Initial Impressions

First off, Thanks again to Promera for giving me the chance to try this epic PRE!

I have been taking about 1.5 scoops pre-workout. I generally never take more than one scoop, so I will explain why here in a minute.
Nonetheless, my energy and workouts have been great!

    Thoughts on Beta-Cret
You know that disappointing moment when you open a bag of chips and realize it's only about 1/4 full?
Yeah, that's not an issue with this product, it is packed with pre-workout to the point it's almost overflowing when you open it!

I like this product a lot, the flavor isn't my favorite, but it is effective nonetheless!
I can drink it, but I have been mixing some crystal light in with it lately because it isn't the greatest flavor in my opinion
I talked about the dosages in my earlier post, so definitely check that out, but as far as how I feel personally...
It's been really good! I've been cutting, so a solid PRE like this has been good to get me jacked up and ready to lift when i'm dragging!
However, I do have to mention the scooper is a little small, the "scoop size" is 6.5g, but if you weight out a scoop it's generally between 4-5g so I have been doing 1.5 scoops and it has been right on par!
More specifics too come in future posts!

Q of the day - what are your thoughts on pre-workouts? Waste of money or well worth it? Good energy or over hyped product??

"Tricking your metabolism" doesn't have anything to do with it. Don't buy into all the hype and BS, calories(macro's) in VS calories(macro's) out. That simple. Timing doesn't matter.

Starting my 5th week in a deficit and my workouts are definitely starting to get tougher!
Down from 179'ish to around 172, so starting to taper off the weight loss and plan to start reversing around 170...
Hopefully I will be in my reverse diet come February!

When you're in a deficit you might feel like crap, your strength may simply not be there, but you gotta buckle down and even if you aren't getting physically stronger you can grow mentally by giving it all you've got in the gym!
Can't wait to start making gains again, but in the mean time I am putting in all I got!

Good thing I have Beta-Cret to get me jacked up before the gym and energy to pull through cardio!

How long do you guys generally try to cut and/or bulk for?

I try to keep my cut around 6-8 weeks, hopefully never letting my Bodyfat get too far out of check.
Additionally, I try to bulk for at least 6 months at a time.

I am annoyed to report that my weight went up slightly but my body fat now sits at 15%. A few weeks ago it was 13.8%. How the f*ck did THAT happen? I'm going to keep a closer watch on the percentage and update it weekly. If the upward trend continues, I am doing something wrong.
Yesterday's workout took just over two hours. A little long, ya?

I will in the gym about 2 hours from now on during my workouts days. I really need to push the cardio. My 2-3 days are not cutting it. Bump it up to 5 days for a few weeks and see what happens. I hardly sleep right now so I figure an extra 25-35 minutes in the gym will not hurt me to much.

Around two hours is typical for me, sometimes longer when cardio is involved..

    LET ME KNOW BELOW
thanks for the first impressions. happy you're liking it.

imo pwo's are well worth it. great for energy and focus after a long day of work.

We did it with a machine. I always use the same one, so doing it with a different person will not alter the result.
I don't have a weight goal. To me, it's a little meaningless, plus it gives me an excuse to get fat so I hit that number.

Today's sexerise was great. Chest and triceps, and my pump was awesome. Hit my target ranges and experienced muscle failure a great many times. It was still just under two hours but this time I enjoyed it more. I don't know why it was different, but hey - I'll take it!

I think I am getting too much caffeine. Observe: after breakfast, I drink a mug of hot green tea. Mid-morning I get my BCAAs (I'm using Amino Energy). And the pre-workout is the Beta-Cret. It's no wonder I have a tough time sleeping at night. Now imagine my surprise when I find the Dymatize protein I bought (Cappuccino Rush) has caffeine. It never occurred to me that it would be in there until I saw the label.

Does this seem like too much? I've never been caffeine-sensitive, but maybe I will not drink the tea for a while.

Also, my chest was sensitive yesterday. Today it looks a little strong and beasty. Actually, breasty. When I squeeze my pecs, they look boobish. LOL

Don't worry I am a stim junky.... I am a daily coffee drinker. My coffee would look like black sludge to most people. I grind my own beans and use a coffee press. Right now with my current pwo I am using 3 scoops. I have been trying to drink coffee only a few days a week not instead of every day. It sucks... Once I am done with my pwo I will scale that down a bit. I also have an occasional rock star.
