Depending on the company they have PPO plans (pay for what you use). That is what we went with last year. No money down, locked in at 19 cents a kw for 20 years. We get charged for what we use during the day. Most summers we average 300-350/month for electric and this year with solar it was no higher than 220 for the hottest months. Most of the time is was around 190. During the winter we have had bills up in the 400s but so far this year our highest is like 250.

Umm, silly question but... why do you still have to pay for electric, if the solar is on your house? Doesn't it become free when you own the panel? Or I guess you're renting the panel...

Exactly. Construction costs are very high here. Decent quality new builds are at least $ 300/sq. ft. - spending $ 500+ is not uncommon for nicer finishes

Technically we are renting the panel and paying the company for the energy we use that we produce. Not only that I do not have money laying around to buy a system or anything to put down if I lease a system. Either was I am saving money each month and the company covers/repairs anything with the system.

Ouch, can get heated marble floor and nicest everything here for 300/sf, new builds 5 star homes are around 120/sf here

Thanks to powercage's recommendation, I got a LG G3 last week and absolutely love it. The camera makes my selfies that I send to COUNTRYMIKE, Loudy and ErgoBoss look stunning.

That would make more sense for where you live. The nice thing is that if I sell my house the new owner takes over. I could not see myself putting any money down. All that matters is that I am saving money on my electric bill!


Now I am about to have my house painted and replace my flooring... There goes my tax return.
