    ankles burn when running?

I know this isn't a running forum and I couldn't figure out the best sub forum to post this but...

I'm training for the marine corps officer candidate selection personal fitness test. My only issue is distance running. The max score is achieved by running 3 miles in 18 minutes. I've been training as a bodybuilder for last couple years and haven't HAD to run distance because my metabolism rocks.
Anyways, when I reach upwards of a Mile, my cardiovascular is fine, but my ankles get hella Inflamed, and it burns so bad I can only push an extra .2 mIles or so without probably bursting into flames.

Will this go away? Am I trying to run too far, too fast, too soon?

    Stats: 5'6"ish, 160 lbs, 8-9% bf,

How long have you been running? It could be that you're pushing yourself to hard or that you're not running correctly. Proper footwear is also key.
Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality.

My footwear is pretty good. I haven't actually ran for distance in a few years. And now I'm trying to run fast for distance. And it kicks in around 1 mile. My form is pretty good for running, I'm Thinkinh my calf muscles and ankle tendons just aren't used to the long use.

Sounds as though your ankles just need to get conditioned to the impact. This should subside over time as your ankles become conditioned. Same applies to shin splint pain as well. Just a matter of conditioning over time.

Most likely either your footwear, or you're not warming up your ankles( yes, stretching ankles)
