no point to this thread really. I just had to exclaim how i cannot believe that people legitimately believe that evolution did/does not occur.
le sigh. i fear for us all.

mind blown at people who seriously do not believe in evolution. I cant believe.....
Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Then what deafness may we not all possess? ~ Dune
We need a new ideology with the core values of reason, honesty, science and secular progress over the older traditions of religion, superstition and dogmatic faith that have long defined humanity. We will never be free to progress and advance until the last stone from the last church is cast down onto the last priest. And every equivalent.

good question, shows you have a critical mind. It's actually simple in that we (us humans) have found numerous fossil records that are 250,000+ years old. They show pretty much exactly what we would expect, more apelike, smaller brains to us how we presently are. Moreover let me say that we dont have thousands and thousands of these because fossils are just hard to find and very special circumstances have to occur for fossils to even exist. The person needs to quickly be buried in dirt, or frozen, etc so that the bone can survive.
*also 250,000 years ago is important as that is the generally agreed upon date for when humans became humans. It was never a switch overnight though where we all of a sudden became humans though. It was an insanely (almost impossible to conceive) slow process.

i'd say that humans just in general have a tendency to 'fill in the gaps' as best as we can. You can see this in people with amnesia, they often create stories out of thin air to explain stuff around them and they will completely believe it because it's 'common sense'. I cant remember the exact name of that phenomenon and too lazy to look it up but it's pretty startling.
But ya i'd say that fantastical thinking like that isnt limited to religious people. Lots of people believe in ghosts, spirits, demons, aliens visiting us, horoscopes, astrology (vs astronomy), etc. This being almost or as bad as believing in religion.Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Well I've always wondered the same op but then I look at some of the same ways my view on life are/have been a skewed and realized that they were brought up that way and didn't ever question those beliefs. I've learned to question everything because I dont want to be the equivalent to a religious nut job.

exactly. our life should be in constant flux, ever between states. We should always be open to new observable and rational evidence if it contradicts our present beliefs. I think this can be applied to everything. Even something as simple as assuming we arent perfect drivers, and so while driving we look at things we could do better.Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Reminded me of one of my facourite quotes:
"Once upon a time, I, Chuang Chou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Chou. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man."Always pick 5 crew

Erm animals like mammoths and tetraeeladon. are related to present day elephants.
Darwin did 20 years of meticulous research in his quest to prove his hypothesis, but obviously that doesn't matter to miscers who think the earth is a 1000 years old.
Look at Lions in Asia vs those in Africa. Very different lookingAll posts associated with this account were purely for entertainment and comedic purposes. Under no circumstances should any posts by this account be taken seriously.

Anthropology major checking in. srs.
Here is the problem. Have you taken a look at the triggering mechanism for evolution? In order for evolution theory to be correct, there has to be a "genetic mutation".
Here is the problem...
Most mutations are pre-existence in the dna of the parents, and most of the time they are a genetic weakness, not a strength.
Now, things change because they breed, and the bottleneck part of evolution is true, that the strong and best adaptive to their environment survive. We can see this with weak animals that became extinct.
The ONLY proof "evolution" in humans is the loss of wisdom teeth. The problem with that is there are 3 mongoloid, negroid, and caucasian (no racist). Mongoloid tend to not have wisdom teeth. That would be pre-existing conditions that would be bred and a product of genetics. People mix evolution theory and genetics up.
Cliffs.
-Limited evidence of mutation.
-This is the backbone of evolution.
-Genetics and evolution get confused.
-Cross breeding is not evolution, it is Gregor Mendel's theory.
-Mendel's theory of genetics + bottleneck theory legit.
-Evolutionary theory, not as solid as you are taught in school, but a valid hypothesis.

I'm in no way religious or anything but...
Charles Darwin has been disproved so many times my more modern scientists. Seriously, just google it. They recently discovered fraudulent fossils at one of the museums in Europe detailing evolution. Corruption is not limited to politics. Do not forget that just like the religious books of fairy tails that religious fanatics submit themselves to, evolution is only but a THEORY that you choose to believe in.
Of course this can get absurd since I can say we're the same as Christians for believing in gravity since it is only but a theory, but at least gravity was not disproved by prominent scientists.Due to the shallowness of humanity, it can be concluded that the only important thing in life is to satisfy your primitive desires.

all of that is literally nonsense. your purposely (or perhaps not) made the issue hard to understand/muddied the water.
- yes most mutations are maladaptive but nevertheless statistics is a thing and so it requires no further explanation than that.
- yes darwin was wrong about genetics specifically, but that is meaningless since we now have the correct understanding of them
- that is not the only proof we have that humans evolved. it's actually such an insane proposition by yourself that it's not worth responding to past that. I have no idea what university or college would ever support your notions.Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Then what deafness may we not all possess? ~ Dune

You clearly don't have a clue what a scientific theory is. Go read some of Karl Popper's work and then come back to us. No knowledge claim can truly be scientifically proven as you cannot be sure that future tests on the subject will be the same. You can be pretty damn sure like evolution which has plenty of fossilised and present day evidence. Obviously you think that God or something decided for a joke to make African lions have manes and Asian lions have not.
People also have little concept in time. Tiny, tiny changes over millions of time can make a huge difference.
In 100 years we helped speed and manipulate the evolution process in dogs from this to this.
12000 years ago all there is one wolf all dogs are descended from. We changed them drastically in just 12,000 years by using them for different purposes. A great dane is practically identical genetically to a bull dog, but they look drastically different.Last edited by MancChap; 12-09-2014 at 04:36 AM.

ummmm so a few crackpot 'scientists' dont believe in evolution? Meaning that that is then representative of the majority of scientists?
the evidence in support of evolution which is overwhelming by the way, is available for anyone to read about in scientific peer reviewed gold standard journal articles from around the world
and finally, regardless of the existence of even a few fraudulent specimens, does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that all evidence or anywhere close to all evidence is fraudulent. There are a plethora of genetic markers, fossil records, and present day comparisons that are available which easily make evolution a fact. Evolution was once a theory and the name, 'the theory of evolution' has just stuck around from the time of darwin (i believe he labeled it natural selection however, in case ppl try to call me on that)Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Lol, what'd that do? Did that blow yer mind? Little Shaken Bake?
Yeah sorry to muddy your water, but all of what you just wrote is based in opinion, you have no sources other than imaginary statistics... of what again? Statistics say you really don't know what you're saying.
