Takes a lot longer (36-72 hours without food if I recall correctly) before catabolism becomes any real issue.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Your metabolism isn't slower at night. You are just less active.
There is easily 12 hours+ latency in your digestive system. That plus the size of your bodily energy stores means that your body easily glosses over 12 hours without food. Some people posit that 16 hours is the most time you would go without food without becoming too suboptimal in body composition goals.

Who cares? Yes you burn less calories at night time, but you burn more in the day time. The timing of it all really doesn't matter. Even if you over-consume at night and store all the calories as fat, then you'll burn em off during the day when you need the energy. It just comes back to energy balance and calories.
