what do yall eat before going to workout, anything simple and effective, i lose energy half way in my workout.

2 hours before I work out I have some complex carbs (40-50g) and about 40g of protein (from a food source - not a shake).
I'm back. For good.
complex carbs and slow absorbing protein. for instance, some cottage cheese and oatmeal.
