My first show - looking for the next step (plz help)

I am 18.5 weeks away from my first physique show.

I have one 1 week left of CoryGregory's 6week Powertrainer. the plan was to get as big/strong as possible before ~12weeks out from the show.

It's working, my bench/squat/deadlift are all going up (275/335/455) and I feel strong, I'm going UP in body weight and looking leaner.

My concern is, I don't think i should really do a crazy cut until about 12weeks out - or am i wrong and thats not enough time?

If it is, what should I do until those 12 weeks? lift big/eat big & just worry about making gains until then?

Ideally i should have started the 6 week program NOW, and then when it was over been at the 12 week mark but my timings a bit off.

    Thoughts?

Post pics of current body status. Might want to consider hiring a coach, makes prep a whole lot easier.

Definitely pics. I can tell you most first timers grossly underestimate the amount of time it takes to get lean. A 12 week cut is possible if you are already starting under 10% bodyfat.

Always better to start early and be ready ahead of time rather than struggle down to the last minute. Obviously would need to know where your starting point is to determine how long

I disagree - it's dependent on the condition of the competitor when they are starting out. I know several natural pros who stay in relatively good shape and give themselves still 20+ weeks to cut so that it's not as stressful and it can be done gradually. I would say 16 weeks only if you are around 10-12% bodyfat AND if you have prepped before and know what you are in for.
