Not right away, but within a week or two you should be back lifting the same weights

    LOL.

After a year off it took me around 4-5 months to get back to where I was previously. Faster progress than before but that could just be because I knew what I doing this time around.

I very seriously doubt you could maintain the majority of your muscle mass simply by eating at maintenance. You need to be training; if you are getting weaker then you are losing muscle mass in conjunction, simple as that.

I haven't trained consistently for 16 months. My diet has been ok. I'm 163.5 pounds 13% body fat 5"11. I'm 21. I'm just afraid as I get older my muscle will disappear like if I stop training for 10 years

You're going to lose muscle no matter what if you stop training for long periods of time, and getting back to where you were is also going to take some time. But if you want to get back to where you were just hit the gym like a animal and dont stop.

All these jacked dudes you see at the gym busting their balls lifting heavy weights? Just doing it for fun. They'd look exactly the same in 10 years if they stopped after building their muscles and just started loafing around all day.
