Cliffs:
> About 41,000,000 traffic citations were handed out, amounting over $6.2 billion.
> Google makes self driving car that has never gotten citation.
> Law enforcement is mad as f*ck about it.

It would work the exact same way as insurance does now... However insurance rates would drop and in the beginning you would probably get some type of credit that lessens your premium if you own a self driving car assuming they're proven over time to be involved in less accidents.
All those cars still have a manual mode because there will always be a reason to drive it yourself in some situations so they'll be insured like normal cars.*PUREBLOOD CREW*

Best **** would be oh crap no parking spaces. Hey car go home and come back and pick me up in an hour... hnng
However I'm assuming laws will force people to be in the cars if they're moving even if on full auto-pilot, but then again I remember seeing some advertisement about a car that dropped you off at the front door then when and parked itself in a parking garage and then came and picked you up when you told it to via your phone.*PUREBLOOD CREW*

Your opinion is reinforced when you consider they give out speeding tickets like 1000 to 1 vs tailgaiting which is far far far more dangerous than someone traveling 10-15-20 over the posted limit especially considering most speed limits are well below the travel speeds the roads were designed for.

Eventually we'll all be on government stipends. There is pretty much no way around it due to automation.
On a far enough timeline the only jobs that will exist will be politicians. Eventually even robots/computers will be better at designing/repairing themselves than we are.
Well that and entertainment/comedy/acting etc.
Basically you'll get your government stipend and if you want to make more money that that it will be up to you to find or create one of the limited available jobs.*PUREBLOOD CREW*

Excellent. It Will also render most drinking and driving a thing of the past.
Automation can set us free. We just have to make sure it's used for that purpose, rather than to enhance the government's ( and other powerful organizations ) control over us. IMO that will prove to be the most difficult thing, far more difficult than the development of the technology itself.
