Today was leg/butt day. I attempted to do exercises that would not require me to grip anything. My right middle finger is still very sore, though considerably less swollen. Goblet squats were done middle finger up the entire time. Take that, ******* morning crowd!
Squats:
95x12
95x12
95x12
95x12
95x12
Seated leg curls:
75x20
90x12
90x12
90x12
90x12
90x12
DB Goblet squats:
40x15
40x15
40x15
40x15
Tri-set on the Leg press
Leg Press:
180x10
180x10
180x10
Leg Press High and Together:
180x10
180x10
180x10
Leg Press High and Wide:
180x10
180x10
180x10
superset on ball
Lying ham curls:
3 x BW x 15
Hip thrusts:
3 x bw x 15
10 minutes stretching.
A few notes here. The squats got lighter as I loosened up and I should have upped the weight. ROM in the shoulder was **** today, though, and it was very uncomfortable (not painful) to have my arm back on squats. On the lying ham curls, I try to keep my arms back behind my head. It makes the movement harder and is good for my shoulder, which was tight and ugly acting today. Hip thrusts on the ball immediately after ham curls is really just a way to burn the hell out of your hamstrings. I didn't feel it in my ass one little bit. And finally, I've said it before but it's worth stating, the seated ham curl machine in this gym is pure crap. I can't do lying curls because of pressure on my MCL so this was my only non-grip option. Ugh.
Now, on to other stuff. The women in my locker room are flipping UPTIGHT. I swear I give them heart palpitations when I wear only my bra and panties to get ready. I'd rather be in nothing, but I know they would riot. One woman told me today, "You sure are comfortable in your own skin." Hell yes I am. What's the point of being so damned uptight? It's too uncomfortable to not be okay with yourself. Stupid women.

I'm at the office today. Doing a combo of work/school stuff and just wanted to have some alone and quiet time. I planned to hit the campus gym before I came to the office, but that was a no-go. I got there at around 8:30 only to discover that they don't open until 9 on Saturdays. WTF? 9 o'clock opening is the perfect time to ruin your weekend plans. So, instead of going in to lift, I decided to go for a walk. However, after a half mile I decided I was being a lazy ass and started running. So 3 mile run and 1/2 mile walk was done. Total time for the two combined was 36 minutes. My run time was just under 29 minutes, which isn't bad since this was my first legit run since last fall and I walked a bit. I'm going to aim for a 25 minute split by end of summer on my 3 miles.

Also, my shower sucked. I couldn't get the water adjusted and it was either scalding hot or freezing cold.
Also, I forgot my hair dryer and panties.
Also, I'm convinced the toilets are haunted. They flushed probably 15 times today, all on their own. No one was in there but me. I realize that since they are sensor flushers that there is probably a logical explanation, but I prefer to believe it's haunted there. That's a lot more fun.
Also, remind me, when I have more time, to tell you guys my legit ghost runner story from about a month ago. It seriously freaked me the hell out and I'm still dumbfounded by what I witnessed.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

This morning I got up at 5:30 and began work. I did about 2 hours of school stuff and another hour of work stuff. Then there was a bit of housework followed up by 1 hour of yoga. I needed it. I have been waking up in panics, pretty much always thinking about school. I seem to be fine during waking hours, but obviously I'm stressed because I'm having freak-out dreams and my eyes won't stop twitching. So I decided to do some yoga/meditation this morning. It was a good decision.
In about 30 minutes I'm leaving for Jack's first scrimmage of the season. He's pretty stoked.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

Workout:
Iron Roosters
We were outside today. The weather indicates it will be our only outdoors day this week. Boo!
1. Jog to the square
2. Normal dynamic warm-up
3. Circuits: Jacks, Pushups, and an Ab exercise
4. Hills: 5 sets down the hill, up the stairs to the top of the hill, and 10 prison yard squats
5. Step ups/dips (on a really high wall - probably too high for the step ups)
6. Wall sit competition: Once you are out you have to do burpees until the last person fizzles out. I won!
Baseball recap
Yesterday was Jack's first scrimmage of the year. He was pretty disappointed because he sat the bench for most of the game and didn't get in the field as much as he hoped. On the other hand, he did well out there and he'll probably get a lot more PT in the future. He's also only 11, only 1 of 3 on the team. Everyone else is 12 and it makes a difference. (IMO he's the best catcher, but the coach's son catches, which means Jack will always be second fiddle in that position. Such is life.)
His second time up to bat he got drilled square in his left knee. It left a really ugly bruise and was quite swollen by bed time. After icing wee wrapped it in an Ace bandage - the compression seemed to help. He was funny, though. I could tell it really hurt him. A mother knows these things. But he refused to let me see it or to come to the fence to talk to me about it. He was teared up but refused to cry. I was pretty proud of him for being tough and manning up. I'm forever astounded by the number of kids, males and females, that don't.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

Once again, I floated into campus from home. Allergies are killing me (I had an allergic reaction to my allergy meds and am now sitting it out for a bit) and between that and the weather, I just wanted to call it quits this morning. BUT, I knew it would be easier to drive in with little traffic than with lots. I also knew that I'd be happier to get it over with than try to make time after work. So . . .
Butt and Legs
Tri-set on the leg press
1. Leg press

30 x 10
30 x 10
DB Romanian Split Squats

15 x 10
Cable Pull Throughs

1 leg * 15
Hanging leg raises (bent knee)
3*10
Hanging leg raises (straight legs)

x5
x3
Cool down.
All DB exercises are with two DBs. RDLs were a bit heavier than normal which may be the reason why I found it harder to keep my balance today. Or, it could be the fact that my head weighs 74 pounds.
Locker Room: There were very few people in the gym today. I suppose the heavy rains kept them away. So the locker room was, of course, quite empty, too. The lady that made the comment about me being "comfortable" with myself took advantage of the few people and skedaddled to the other side of the locker room. I thought this was funny. Seems as if I'm always good at making friends and influencing people . . . influencing them to get the hell away from me.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

Iron Roosters
Run day. We did intervals again, which I don't mind since they are a calorie torcher. 1.5 minutes walk/ 1.5 minutes run. We ended up going 3.5 miles total in the 45 minutes. Not bad at all.
The lady that is newer to the group is really coming along and I'm proud of her. She found it difficult to run all of the 1.5 minutes, but she is definitely moving faster and ran MOST of the 1.5 minute sessions. The hills were super hard for her and will continue to be for a bit, but she's keeping in the game. That's one reason why I love this group. I like knowing that it really serves to support people who want to better themselves.
In other news, I am S-W-A-M-P-E-D at work and will continue to be for another two weeks or so. And, worst part is that I'm out three days next week. Monday for eye appointment - I'm getting my eyes dilated so I won't be able to look at the computer for at least a day. Wednesday for a local conference - I'm giving a speech on my research. Friday for my birthday - celebration weekend in Cincinnati. Ugh.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

It's $30/person and starts at 7 PM. It goes for 2 hours and stops by 4 bars. I did one in Louisville last fall and it was really a blast. Way more fun than I would have ever thought. Absolutely worth the money. Lots of pictures and giggles that day.

We'll just be getting out of the Reds game when it starts, so we didn't make dinner plans in advance. I think the idea is to hang out all night, though. We aren't yet sure what that means and it may end up being an organic decision. We just want to make the most of our time away from the kids and other responsibilities.

And we've loved hanging with you guys! If not this time, then we need to make an effort for some time in the future.
No workout today. It was one of those mornings where I couldn't leave the kiddo for the gym (no one else was at home) and my other option was to run, and well, we know how that one often gets bypassed by yours truly. Plus, I stayed up last night to watch the season premier of Turn after Jack went to bed. I can't be expected to run on too little sleep, no can I? Frankly, being up at 6, almost 1.5 hours past my normal wake up time, about killed me. I could definitely use a bit more shut eye today.
I can't go to the gym after work because I plan on being a bit tipsy. It's April birthday celebration at work. Woohoo! There's a group of my really close co-workers from my last position that all have April birthdays. We always take a few hours to have a "meeting" and celebrate. Bring on the margaritas!!!! Of course, I have a long drive home, which means I usually stay a bit late to eat chips and salsa, drink water, and sober up. It's so hard being me.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

It's been madness around here, lately!
Saturday: Rushed to the gym. Did a 1-mile "sprint" (I'm slow, especially on a TM). 5 sets Landmine rows/presses. 1 mile sprint. 5 sets bis/tris on cable. Hit the road.
Sunday: Got drunk. Lost money at the races. Yay Kentucky stuff.
Monday: Overslept due to drunkenness. Missed IR. Went to the eye doctor for a vision check. Eyes were dilated. Proceeded to be blind for the remainder of the day. Took a 3 hour nap.
Tuesday: Up at the ass crack of dawn. Hit the gym.
Superset 1:
*Incline DB chest press

It has been madness . . . good madness, but madness none the less.
Last Wednesday- no workout. I traveled to my school to give a presentation about my research. I viewed it as practice for my proposal defense, but it turned out to be an actual competition. I won! So $150 extra in the bank.
Thursday: Upper body and elliptical at the gym. I don't recall what I did.
Friday we headed to Cincinnati for the start of my birthday weekend bash. We hit the hotel gym which was quite nice comparatively. And . . .I injured my shoulder further. I'm going to try to make it through this week at work because it's finals and I'm needed. Then I'm going to have to go to the doctor next week. I think it needs help. Sadly, I injured it on leg day. I was picking up a pair of 25 lb dumbbells to use for step-ups near the end of my workout.
That day I did an interesting leg press machine. Instead of pressing the platform out, you go back as you push against it. Honestly, the angle was perfection in my opinion.
Saturday - nothing. We went to the Reds game which was rained out and later to the pedal wagon for birthday fun. It was a rainy day, but the weather cleared up for the evening and it turned out to be quite nice.
I walked on Sunday - 3 miles. No big deal, but I had too much to drink that weekend to run. I started to run, went maybe 1/4 mile, and realized, This might lead to vomit.
Monday: Iron Roosters. I had to modify all upper body stuff because of my shoulder. I did some crappy 1-arm push ups and then wall push ups, which I don't believe I have ever done before in my life! BW dips hurt if I did them legs extended. If I did the pussy-fied ones with my knees bent I was fine.
Tuesday: Legs at the gym
Superset:
Leg Press Normal: 180*10, 10, 10, 10
Leg press low and together: 180*10, 10, 10, 10
Leg press high and together: 180*15, 15, 15, 15
BB Split Squats: 45*10, 65*10, 10, 10
Seated Ham Curls: 90*15, 15, 15, 15
DB Step Ups: 15s*30 (nonstop, alt legs)
Ham Rollins w/ball (nonstop between sets)
2 legs *10
1 leg * 10 each
2 legs * 10
1 leg * 10 each
Platform jumps: x 30
I'm in a rush, but here are some of the pictures from this weekend.
