Losing fat around the face (baby fat, chubby cheeks)

Hi, i am currently on a bulking stage, and find myself gaining a lot of fat around the face.

Now, genetically I have always had rather chubby cheeks except for the times I was really skinny for a while but with hardly any muscle/strength.

I am currently weight training every other day. Will doing cardio on off days help me burn fat, or will it defeat the purpose of bulking and make me burn too much muscle?

And how about walking on the treadmill for like 30minutes instead of running?

Any personal experience or advice would be appreciated.

it's normal. its a relatively common occurrence. Both water weight and fat can go and round up the face
Which one it is depends on your diet. It will go away once you cut.
As for doing more cardio, it depends on how much of a caloric surplus you are in and how much muscle you already have. without more info, can't really advise
Most of my infos comes from my B.Sc. in Microbiology and Immunology with a strong background in cellular biology and biochemistry and affinity towards the fields of physiology and pharmacology

Increase both protein intake and cardio time mate. Avoid fat at all cost except of Omega3 fat found in fish. You don't want to put fat around face and neck. This will speed up the aging process of the face skin.

i think there is nothing like i wanna lose weight from my face/stomach etc... it's genetically coded in your DNA from the birth.
So maybe you should just like yourself as you are. i mean you cant lose weight from only your face.

    Thanks for the advice fellas.

One thing I still need to figure out is if decreasing my fat intake will cause my face(among other parts) to look less bloated. Healthy things i've been consuming that contain fat are = almonds, cashews, walnuts, whole milk, egg yolk, chicken, pork, peanut butter....

Does anyone recommend eliminating or reducing the egg yolks, and maybe drinking reduced fat milk instead of whole milk??

No. Fat is a super important macronutrient. Eating fat dont causes you to gain fat. Eating calories does.
I don’t know how big you are but you should get at least 50-70g of fat a day depending on your size.
Just keep in mind it's almost impossible to bulk without gaining some fat. That's why you cut after a bulk. Just make sure you dobt eat too much avove maintenance level.
As said before, where that bulking fat will go is based on genetics/hormonal profile so dont worry about it

Why don't get things simple? I am not good at caloric value of the food. But animal fat causes you to gain fat.
Omega3 Fats are not an issue.
So arguing generally that FAT does not causes you to gain fat does not sound good to my ears ....

Animal fats don't make you fat. You have your info wrongs. Animal fats contains both saturated fat and cholesterol which you need to produce an optimal ammount of testosterone, which is helpfull to both burn fat and build muscles. It is highly caloric though, so you need some, but not too much either, but going below a specific minimum of fat amounts will greatly impede your results.
You can make body fat from ANY type of food, be it simple carbs, complex carbs, proteins, good fat, bad fat, alcohol calories, etc. It's all about how much calories you need.

exactly, animal fats also consist of omega 3s which are essential for burning fat. however fish tend to be richer in omega 3s

Which makes you fatter, 1kg of protein or 1kg of animal fat (not Omega3)?
I am not skinny, I still have fat on my body which I don't like. You can't recommend me to eat cheese instead of shakes of whey protein !

You admitted that you spent 12 years(!) getting fat, you just started cutting two months ago at the spritely age of 45, and you post in every single thread as if you're an authority on fat loss, when in reality all you do is parrot what you're read/heard. Humility goes a long way when there are many, many other uses here that know infinitely more than you.

Also, you look like Al Borland.

    "Humility goes a long way........"

So does irony. I find your apporach to be lacking ever so slightly in humility.

I am not new to training. I am not on a "cut". I am on a diet. Body builders cut.

I was being honest with him.

If you don't like the fact that your bulk is making your face fat, don't bulk.

I didn't mean to insult him (or you - why so sensitive?).

I will stop parroting everything I've read or heard - when you stop doing it.

    I am Al Borland.

What are his height and weight? What's his bf%? What are his goals? What is his diet? Is he taking creatine or other supps that can cause bloat?

YOU are fat, and YOU can't bulk, but that doesn't mean that everyone else is in the same boat. He's told us he was skinny... any weight gain - fat or muscle - may change his appearance... I don't know, and you certainly don't know, so you shouldn't be giving advice without asking the important questions.

You demand humilty and you lack humilty in your demand. That is were the irony comes from.

I spent years training in my 20's and 30's. Assuming I don't have any first hand knowledge or experience with training or diet based on my post count and current physical condition is short sighted on your part. You pointed out the fact that I am old - maybe I have more experience than you. I am not ashamed of my time away from the gym or my age. I was busy with my career and raising a family. I am correcting the problem now. I am training hard and sticking to my diet (down 40 lbs from the Al Borland picture taken last spring).

Thanks for the well wishes - I am on track to hit my goal before Christmas. That would be less than 16 weeks. Not bad for a fat, old guy.

building a great body if you have average genetics is a multi year journey. unfortunately you have to gain fat to build muscle, so don't expect a chiseled jaw or a 6 pack during the bulking phase. I bulked for years and got pretty fat...now that ive been cutting im revealing all my hard work....need patience
