I should really get over to that gym sometime and lift with some of those guys.
He's done USAPL before, Badger Open maybe? I'm too lazy to look it up.
That's good to hear, sounds like it's expanding a fair amount. I can't stand seeing "World Meets" and it's mostly just guys from a few states and maybe a few canadian lifters. There is no such thing as 'strong enough'

I use the TPB at my gym and I really like the knurling.
At my meet they used an Eleiko Power Bar (I believe) and the knurling was really quite pathetic. It's probably been used a lot and worn down, to be fair, but it was a bit annoying as they had two TPBs in the warm-up room they could have used instead (although probably couldn't because IPF affiliate).202.5/135/245. It's funny how I run into a bunch of CFs that claim elite CFs are natty and powerlifters are on juicy juice, but then they only compete in non-tested powerlifting feds.
http://uspla.org/home/wp-content/upl...ip-results.pdf
Take a gander. Looks like 8 countries but only about 20 lifters from non-USA countries. But our boy ShortDave was there representing Canada so you know it's legit lol.
Yea I think he's convincing him and will be doing one next year.
Whooo, broscience!

Curious about serious replies:
Why is it that powerlifters insist on hating on crossfit?
Is there a reason I'm missing or something?181/198

I had that problem so I quit. Also zero hate on crossfit and I think it's one of the best sports you could do for health right up there with long distance sports like running biking and swimming. People think some of the stuff they do is dangerous but you could easily say that with powerlifting and weightlifting. My dad's friends daughter is my age and does crossfit and got to compete at that national meet this year. I would do unholy things to her.
Also I quit my job for other reasons

Why is it that the large majority of heavy deadlifting videos that I see the lifter will begin their setup in this way (the raising of the arms to around parallel to the ground, etc.). Are there any specific cues they are going through here, or is this just to fill the belly with air/tighten up overall and they all just have ended up doing it this way just from seeing so many others with success do the same thing. Also, is one of your guys cues to internally rotate your elbows when setting up your deadlift?

what's worse knurling, brand new eleiko comp bar or brand-new TDB ??
used the TDB in comp once and the knurling wasn't as aggressive imo as the eleiko bar when we just unwrapped it and the first 3-4 weeks of using it
