Unofficial Misc Android App

This is the official thread for the unofficial misc app I created. You can find it on the Google Play Store at: http://play.google.com/store/apps/de...droid.miscplat or by searching the apps for "deceus" or "MISC Platinum".

My previous app had almost 2000 downloads but it is no longer available with the release of the Platinum edition. To those of you that didn't get a chance to use it, it wasn't much. Just 3 tabs that quickly took you to the Misc home page, your user CP and PM. The Platinum edition has a number of new features and should work on anything from Android 2.2 and up.



Here is a screenshot of what to expect when you first launch the app. There is a side drawer that is opened by swiping left to right or by clicking the app icon. There is also a context menu in the top right of the screen that will give you extra options based on what part of the app you're on. Users with older phones might have to use their physical menu button to get this menu to pop up.

The context menu on the misc section is just a shortcut to add people to your rep/neg reminders (more info below), bookmark threads and change the forum theme anywhere.



I have contacted forumsentiel and he has approved this post/app and is happy to see people trying to make improvements to bodybuilding.com mobile experience. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free post here or PM me directly.

Since I know this is going to be asked 100 times: No, I do not plan on releasing a version for iOS anytime soon. Just to get started on one would require a Mac, a testing device and a $99/year license. That's at least a grand, I'll be happy to take donations to make it happen doh.

This post if for those that want to know more about the apps features:

Beginning with the toolbar at the top, you will see a refresh icon and a picture attachment icon. The refresh is self-explanatory, so I will just mention the picture attachment feature. Clicking on this icon will bring up a pre-populated thumbnail gallery of common misc memes and gifs. I plan on expanding this gallery in the future, if you have any pics you'd like to see added, please reply with them in this thread and I will add them to the list. All it takes to post one of these images is a simple click and a paste.

The rep/neg reminders are for for when you've reached your daily limit and want a quick reference to a users recent posts. You can either add them from the main context menu or from their respective drawer menu items. All you have to do is enter a user's EXACT username to either list and with one click the app will take you to a list of their recent posts. When you want to remove some from the list just long click on their entry and you will asked if you really want to delete said user from the list.

The (PICS) feature lets you upload pics from your phone to Imgur through their anonymous upload feature to use while miscing. THESE IMAGES WILL BE PUBLIC. Once the upload is complete you will be shown a preview of the image and a menu item will be added to the (PICS) list that will let you copy the url anytime you want. After the menu item is created you can click on it to rename it to whatever you want.



The bookmark feature is not meant to replace the thread subscription feature of the actual site. It's meant to mark your place in a thread so that you can quickly return and catch up on any new posts at a later date.

Disclaimer: I am not a bodybuilding.com employee. Any questions or concerns regarding the app should be directly to myself. Also, this is only my second published app and it's the very first version. Expect a few bugs to creep up and let me know about them. This app supports over 5,000 devices, if it's not working on yours let me know what device you are using, what version of Android you have installed, and the EXACT steps it takes to recreate the error.
