Went to get my oil change, but they forgot to put oil in my car. Car is dead now, won't start now.
What are my options
- Are they liable 100%?

Yes, no oil will 100% break your engine bad. It can literally fuse your piston to the engine. Like weld it to engine. There is a high probablility that you're engine is completely phucked unless they bore it out and replace everything.

edit .I don't work for jiffylube,but my coworker use to.Last edited by peanut91; 11-04-2014 at 04:22 PM.

Yes they are 100%, ive worked in the service dept of a Toyota dealer for 7 years and this has happened many times ive gotten cars towed in bc Walmart n dumb side shops do this. Its always an argument at first with them but they have no choice but to fix the thing. It will turn into a lawsuit they will never win if they don't. Trust me they are liable, I would tow it to a dealer to get it looked at, I would not trust sending it back there, they may put oil in it and it will run ok for a short period of time, ive seen this happen over and over again.

A lot of modern cars don't have oil pressure gauges. Older cars also have oil pressure gauges that a lot of times don't have working oil level senders. If he had a working oil gauge, he would have no excuse to keep driving like he did. I wonder how far he made it, you can go a few miles not running to high at RPMs.

either you went to the dumbest mechanic shop in the world or you had a major leak which brings me back to dumbest mechanic shop in the world not noticing it..."it's alright man, you can laugh. I laughed when you walked in" - Jay Cutler

Saw this many times at work.
Most important question is 1) how long until your car got fuked 2) how many miles did you put on the car before it got fuked
Only play the oil change place could make is that they say you did something to the car, like hit something on the freeway which caused the oil to leak ect. If it was pretty soon after the oil change you should be golden. I've seen most oil change places pay for a rental and get your car repaired, if they dont then file a claim with your insurance company and let them handle it, you'll have to pay your deductible but your ins co will likely get it back for you.
