ITT One of the Best Financial Decisions I Have Ever Made

Fuark OP I spend so much money eating out every day it makes me sick. Between Chipotle for dinner and whatever else I eat for lunch I spend a good $250-$300 a month eating out.

I suck at cooking and can't motivate myself enough to do it. How do you deal with this? Would love to spend that money on other things.

Start simple bro. Most thigs that involve lean meat and veggies can be made in a crockpot or frying pan. Totally worth it.

this might have been mentioned, i didn't read the whole thread but ensuring you pay yourself first when you get your pay check is one of the most effective ways to accumulate your wealth.

And limiting the amount of bad debt is also key

I stash away money into savings fund, property fund, and vacation fund every paycheck.

Then every Friday I pay myself out a 100.00 cash allowance. That has to last me until the following Friday. If I have any of the allowance left over, I put it in a piggy bank. Then I take out another 100.00 for more allowance. My piggy bank is like 1200.00 of allowance money that never got used. Hehe

practice. go spend money on a cooking class if need be.

chicken breast is very easy to bake consistently every time. pan cooking/grilling is a little more finess and feeling. when in doubt, meat thermometer.

Browning ground beef and turkey is about as hard as boiling water.

rice cooker for rice. add x amount of rice, x amount of water

microwave a sweet potato for 7ish minutes. takes a little fine tuning on time for your particular microwave

buy bags of "steamables" veggies. Microwave for directed time. done.

I agree with OP though. Avoid unnecessary expenses when possible. If you aren't starving, have food at the house, then there is no reason for you to waste money on eating out. View that as more of a special occasion and you'll discover your financial outlook will greatly improve.

I keep oatmeal packets at work and a tub of protein. It costs me under 1.00 a meal and it can all be prepared within 1 minute while at work .

das it mane I've recently been eating mostly proats for lunch lately too. Not just for money reasons but for the macros too.

Brah, interest rates are low as hell. You're better off putting the money in the market vs paying off a 3% loan.

Start using a CC with rewards. If nothing else, you'll get 1-5% cash back on it, that you can use on your statement or use toward some type of reward. I recommend toward your statement unless you get a travel card and, well, like to travel.

One of the best things that happened to me when my wife and I seperated was I started making most of my own meals. She used to be lazy as fuk and get food out instead of cooking. And when she would cook it would be terrible macros that I'd have to make up for. lol brb work all day, she texts me to pick up food on the way home... I rage. lol

Don't need to deal with that anymore! Current GF actually wants me to do the cooking once she eventaully moves in because I cook good macros, which I'm happy about.

Brah, interest rates are low as hell. You're better off putting the money in the market vs paying off a 3% loan.

I typically gamvle and lose money in the stock market , so I end up steering clear lollll

She knows it makes me rage that she eats out and she is aware that I am a bit judgmental of the fact that I feel she should be taking better care of herself when there are women that do this without question.

But I know that work stresses her out and drains much of her time so I really don't mind cooking for her.

Lately it's been 60/40 me but it was a bit higher, but I didn't take her out as much tbh simply due to the fact that I don't really like eating out or eating junk and she knows it.

She did take me out for brunch on my birthday which was really cool and I took her out to dinner, bit I had a gift card I got as a present so I didn't really mind. Also due to the fact that I make more than her I don't care *as* much, but we get into tiffs about what to eat. One time she wanted pizza and I wanted to make my own food. She tried to con me into getting food lol so I told her I will the food I'm making but you can buy your own pizza.

Legit. Yeah for the quality and quantity of good food I can make home, most places would charge way too much. Not worth it.
