i mean aside from the parties we dress up to go to for sloots.. when did the halloween spirit die?

it seems like every year i see less and less decorations and less and less kids knocking on my door for candy? wtf?

last year i got like 3 trickortreaters and i live in a nice house in a very nice part of toronto, are kids over halloween? I remember when i was a kid i would be PUMPED all of October waiting for halloween day, and i would see decorations on like every house in the neighborhood the whole month.

For kids they do "trunk or treat" and other bull****. I try to take my kids trick or treating door to door.... Brb.. Out for an hour and find maybe 5 houses with porch lights on (1 of which was an angry old man who insists on keeping his light on to deter thieves, but doesn't have any candy).

When I was a kid all roads were filled with little bastards running around and giggling. Now... It's a depressing dark street.

Man when I went trick or treating back in the day the entire neighborhood was filled with people walking around. I'd go with a group of friends and we'd hit up our neighborhood and a few others close by. Good times.

Feels. I remember seeing epic halloween decorations on people's houses. Like a fuking haunted mansion just driving down the street. There would be mobs of kids and their parents trick or treating. Seems like ever since the advent of the internet, everyone is antisocial and afraid to do things outside anymore.

this + you hardly ever see kids going further than their own front yard to play with neighbor kids. We are slowly becoming more paranoid/pussified. I use to love going to the random haunted houses people in the neighborhood would make out of their own houses. Would be walking around seeing packs of other kids, and compare candy or get tips on which houses have the good stuff. Oh well, I'm just glad I got to experience halloween properly for many years as a kid.

We have a million kids in our neighborhood and they all go out trick or treating. We always do our house up scary and sit out on the porch in costume handing out candy. Being on a Friday night this year we are expecting it to be even better than usual and going even bigger.

Probably pure coincidence but around my block/neighborhood I'd say 80% of the houses have children within +/- 4 years of each other. Years ago when everyone was young all the streets would be decked out for halloween/thanksgiving/christmas/etc. Nothing now. Sad as fuk.

Used to spend so much time leading up to trick-or-treating with friends going around neighborhoods checking out the decked out halloween houses, and the people that'd hide in coffins and chit and scare you. Then going to haunted houses right before Halloween. I don't see any of that chit anymore.
