It's post like this that make really believe in what I'm doing. Right down to what she said about eating and such. I think transformation photos and posts like this could help so many cardio bunnies and teenagers.
I fukin hate how undereating is the new healthy. For every 3 fat ass teenagers there is probably 1 under eater ruining their bodies all the same. I met a girl who was "model", her trainer would have her not eat for 3 days straight sometimes. Just wtf at girls thinking that's what life was supposed to be like.
Beyond improving my own physical appearance and health, educating others (especially teens) on proper nutrition and the benefits of heavy lifting (at least don't be a cardio bunnie) is very important to me.

daaaman, that's a cool photo. I like those side by side comparisons at the same weight. It really drives home the difference weight lifting makes. I'm still working through that. The desire to be thin will always be there after being fat for so long, but I want to be strong and fit now as well.
Au contraire, mon frere. It's awesome.

It isn't just even about physical appearance. Muscles help you age safely, perform better, and let you eat a little more. Even the recommended eating habits that are coming through with modern weigh lifting seem to be less prone to paranoia than others. Referring to flexible dieting, Alan, Lyle and countless others.

Yes, you're right. I'm not arguing the benefits. Speaking for myself only, but I think this is common for most women as well. Bulking looks great on paper. It makes sense, but it's a psychological hurdle to do a successful bulk irl. My anxiety rises when I see the scale go up 5-7lbs, and my jeans get snug.

yea, totally agree. as a former fatty and ED, its sorta scary, daunting even, to actually try and gain weight on purpose. After losing weight, I've only bulked once and that was due to medical reasons but I honestly did not enjoy being big.

And on the contrary it's just as scary being "forced" to gain weight. But when I had to go away a few years ago, I reframed my thought process and realized that without it.. I'd likely die.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is think "bigger picture" and look to the future... Just like an alcoholic, or someone in a rehabilitation facility.

I've been forced to gain weight too alongside HRT, but it was not as drastic as some people's bulks - 40ish kg to 65kg.
Yes, it did help put things in perspective, but I am still more comfortable at an average weight for my height/build rather than what seems to be the norm on the boards.
My bulk was from 63 to 86kg at my heaviest. You can't get much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good.

First day lifting in a deficit after 6 months of bulking. Smh...felt like I had very little in the tank. Volume cut nearly in half. I'll have to get used to shorter workouts it appears...
On a happier note, my knee held up great doing FS. That that's something..

I've never been much into bungee jumping, but skydiving really interests me. Check this out lol:
I see what you're saying. Society is a major influence on how girls think about themselves, and a lot of emphasis is placed on being thin. The media and advertisements play a huge role as well. There are tons of commercials, billboards, and magazine ads that show skinny models that are covered in makeup and the young people who read them are drawn to that body image. Acceptance also plays a role. I think people (both guys and girls) believe that they have to look a certain way in order to be accepted by others, or that if they're not thin enough people won't think they're attractive. Obviously this isn't true with everyone.
Are you reducing your volume the entire time you cut?Last edited by health4life24; 01-21-2015 at 07:50 AM.

It really depends. I run Kelei's routine and do an obscene amount of volume when bulking, so it's not really sustainable on a cut. But at this point I think I'm just going to have to get my body used to the reduction in carbs so until then I won't be doing more than 30-35 reps per movement.
I typically take it day by day and do as much volume as I feel I can tolerate on any given day.

Gotcha. I'm not too familiar with that routine, but when you said you were going to reduce your volume I was curious because you shouldn't change the way you train just because you're dieting. If anything, it's even more important to train with intensity and push yourself when you're in a deficit, because you're trying to lose fat but still preserve your muscle mass. Ever hear the saying, "You need to give your muscles a reason to stay."? It's easy to want to back off the intensity or go lighter because you don't have as much energy, but here's where mind over matter comes into play. You should still aim to set PR's and strive for progress, regardless if you're in a deficit or surplus.

Yea, I know. My volume is still good, but I used to do quite a bit, for instance:
Kelei's routine basically is one set in the 8-12 RM range. It's not truly to failure, but you need to lift a weight heavy enough that you would be failing on the next rep while falling in the 8-12RM range.
After your first set, you rest 15-30 seconds, and then pump out sets of 3-5reps. If you can't hit 3 reps, you're not resting long enough. If you hit more than 5 reps, you've resting too long. It's a rest-pause routine.
You aim for total reps per exercise. So it would be the initial 8-12 initial reps + all the reps in the 3-5RM range after your 15-30 seconds rest.
During my bulk I was hitting 60-70 total reps, which is about 10-12 sets of 3-5 after the initial set of 8-12.
Today on my first day of the cut, I hit 35. So it's still a good deal of volume.
