Yeah bro, how horrid would that be? I am so glad I didn't give in and listen to everyone who told me to take out all those loans and tried to force me into career paths I didn't want to do. This guy could get a job making nearly the same without a degree and no debt. Would prob actually make more that way considering he wouldn't have to drop 600 a month on loans. I'm all for not judging peoples intelligence solely on their education but it's not a "piece of paper" kunt, it's 8 fukking years of education & training by PhDs, Prodigies and the man who invented the self-parking car.

In Australia they just dock your wage in excess of $50k by 5% (through taxes) until you've payed it off.

So if you never earn over $50k in an Australian job you never pay it.

2. how much you will most probably make when you finish

Mcdonald's was surprisingly cheaper here than when I visited America 4 years ago. Yeah $50k is pretty low, but the point is, the government makes sure the debt doesn't cause any stress- they just tax you a bit extra of what they deem you don't need. I think if you've got a wife/kids they're even more lenient with the payment.

Plus you can always just take the degree and leave the country- boom debt free.

Yeh. I'm earning $30 an hour doing night shift work (no education required) 3 days a week while at uni, and get all my money back since I don't go over the $50,000~ amount it is. Big Mac is $7.

Depends. I've witnessed far too many vets get out and struggle to even find work. It can be beneficial, but I feel the country does a disservice to veterans in the way they take care of them. It's ridiculous and sad really.
