Also I found the links that argue that snake format simply can't achieve parity.
http://wagesofwins.com/2011/10/22/sp...is-impossible/
There’s a small distinction between the stats [Wins Produced] and the votes [ESPN NBA Rank]. Both agree that the number of great players is few. The thing though is that the middle of the league is actually more similar than the voters thought. While the voters had a linear trend we seen once we hit the mid 100s that almost all of our players fall between a rating of 2 and 4. Dave Berri actually made this point on a recent podcast. The difference between the top player (LeBron James according to ESPN, Kevin Love according to Wins Produced) and the 30th (Andrew Bynum according to ESPN, Andre Miller according to Wins Produced) is huge! On the other hand the difference between the 100th best player (Wesley Matthews according to ESPN, Grant Hill according to Wins Produced) and the 300th best player (Ekpe Udoh according to ESPN and Leandro Barboso according to Wins Produced) is simple not as much of a hit.

...players at the top are easier to predict than guys at the end of first round.
Finally, it’s the tip of an iceberg because the deeper the league is the bigger the problem becomes!
...In a semi-deep league with a shallow benches the difference between top and bottom picks is over 10 fantasy points! Now we are talking about some serious damage here… because even if you pick a player who will out-perform his draft position by 10 fantasy points [for example, 10th best player at #75!]… you will just be on the same level as GMs with top picks!
Let me put this this way: in a competitive environment a snake draft essentially means that your final position in the standings will depend mostly on where you picked in a draft!
Not your skills, not your knowledge but pure dumb luck in a draft order lottery before season even started!
Obviously, there will be some exceptions because it’s not like you can’t pick better than other GMs in your league but it doesn’t change a general rule and by definition all GMs can’t improve their position…
BTW, it also applies to ratings for head-to-head and Rotisserie!
There is already a thread for this.

gonna do the draft order about 1:30 PM, I'll message NYM the order and he'll post it. NYM, Ross or anyone else if you have a final list of the GMs please PM me the list so I can input them in the randomizer.

Hahaha so much this. Just had a chance to read the last few pages, N23 going HAM on everyone. I like it.
My vote is just drafting for 1 year. I get the arguments for the 5 year window, but everyone sees potential in players differently. Someone sees Wiggins as the next Kobe vs someone he sees him as a future 3 and D wing player... HUGE difference in how they vote. Brings way too much guessing into things.
The draft order where the 3rd round starts at the bottom rather than the top helps to address the huge advantage people with early first round picks get.
At the end of the day, getting a top 5 pick is huge no matter how we set it up---------------Misc Bet Crew---------------

Sorry, what i was trying to get at is how everyone will project players futures way different. Alot easier to forecast for 1 year in advance than it is for 5.
If were drafting for next year we all know what kind of ballpark production rookies will produce. Whereas if a team has say 3 lottery rookies from this year draft, one person might look at that team and say they'll still suck in a few years and another person might say that time would dominate if given 3-4 years to develop. Brings in alot of guess work imo.---------------Misc Bet Crew---------------

It should be best team right now, most likely to win a championship right now.
Also, I've had this idea for the past couple years, and would really like to see it done some time soon (maybe in a couple months midseason?)
Similar to how TNT did an all time NBA draft, I think it'd be awesome if we tried to do a build-a-team but with guys like Jordan, Hakeem, and of course the GOAT player Dennis Rodman.

Idk why you guys insist on waiting. We're not going to get a full 30 and If we do 2-4 of them will drop out by the 6th round especially if you let everyone and there brother in the league. Which is what you're doing now. 24 is a good number.

exactly glad I got someone with half a brain here who agrees with me. We're already going to lose a couple as is. What I would do is have a check-in. Every one on that list post to re-claim there team by tomorrow at noon. Then have a waiting list of new GMs waiting to take their spot if they dont check-in. Weeds out poverty bros and keeps the draft flowing like diarrhea
