He was big n strong but being an elite competitor a totally different game. Let me aware you
In words of Victor himself ,
There then followed several years of Victor at various times saying he wouldn’t enter bodybuilding contests because he wouldn’t get a fair deal, which alternated with statements like, “In current bodybuilding I dislike the kamikaze attitude to get ripped at all costs. I don’t love bodybuilding enough to sacrifice my life for it. If these kamikaze guys are thought to be smart or intelligent, I’d rather be to be thought of as foolish.”
WHY VICTOR NEVER COMPETED(by Peter McGough)
My own thought is that as big as he was Victor would have to diet and get cut up to do well in pro contests. And he just didn’t want to lose his mythical size or face the prospect of losing. I personally think dieted down his trouble spot would be his back, where his high lat insertions would have tor****ed his lat spread. I feel that the longer he stayed away from taking that first pro step the greater his apprehension grew. I think deep down he couldn’t face the prospect – shame to him – of losing. That’s why he never entered an NPC qualifier and instead took the path of entering the Nigerian Championships where he knew absolutely, totally, unquestionably, that he couldn’t lose. To be a winner you have to be prepared to lose, and Victor could never handle the risk of losing.
The truth is even Victor didn’t know what lay under the excess tissue he was carrying; and he and the bodybuilding world never did find out. Viewed through the prism of time, 20 years after his hey-day, Victor Richards’ inability to soak up a loss was bodybuilding’s loss also.Honours in Physics

Damn that waisted talent. Went all to his obliques.

I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''

Do you know he once asked the announcer at FIBO to introduce him as " Natural Uncrowned Olympia" ? with Dorian present there... Nevertheless Victor continued posing and afterward spoke of having overpowered Yates. Such was his conviction that he had overshadowed the Shadow he apologized to Yates for making him look bad. Victor was just about the only one who held that view and a bemused Yates just replied, “Oh, alright mate. Funny old world innit?” Like a TRUE champ . now that is

Ive read that his big deal was not wanting to take HGH and Slin. When they became essential is when he decided to leave the sport. Vic is definitely in the conversation for most freaky mass monster genetics. Richards and Dillet are the two from what I have heard could look at a weight and gain size, just ridiculously responders to hypertrophy

By himself Vic look amazing...But here's what he was up against...
Haney had a habit of making his rivals look amateurish. He did it to Gary Strydom, Mike Christian and Lee Labrada. He would have done it to Vic as well. His back width was just too much for anyone to compete against. And Vic was not a wide guy.

McGough is biased as fukc when it comes to Yates (with whom Vic would have competed against if he did decide to compete) but he is correct in this case, there are plenty of would-be-should-be Mr.O's: tank-top Mr.O, gym-shot Mr.O, 6 weeks-out Mr.O, silhouette Mr.O etc etc. but when they actually get into contest shape its a completely different story. Imagine if Dillet never got into contest shape but we saw a silhouette pic of him from a guest posing if he was in the condition equivalent to say several weeks out, there would be plenty of people spouting how he would destroy everyone on stage.
