Just a quick update. Hamstring healed and then I developed bursititis (self-diagnosed) in my elbow. There is a larger than golf ball sized lump on my elbow that makes it difficult to use. Since lifting bother me, I've been doing cardio and exercises that don't require the use of my arm. I go to the dr. tomorrow, so hopefully I will get some relief. I can't catch a ****ing break this year.

We'll see how long this lasts. I'm not getting the same motivation out of journaling that I used to. Then again, I'm not getting much motivation out of anything. Hopefully this time things will stick. For one, I joined my gym's 10 week challenge. For another, I may have a gym partner and a single mom over 40 partner in crime. Sad about her divorce, but happy to have someone in the same boat as me.
I also will be starting a 200 hour yoga teacher training program in a couple of weeks. Very excited about this! There is a very good chance I could get a job at my yoga studio (who is offering the training), but even if there isn't that opportunity it's a yoga alliance cert that is good anywhere. It's an excellent complement to my existing business, which I've neglected somewhat.
So, I've been easing back into things. Walked 4 days last week. Will start gym next week and plan on easing back into running as well. I think I've reached the point that the novelty of staying home every weekend has worn off. Time to lose the weight and get back out there! For this week:
Tuesday: 2 mile walk in the hood with Josie
Wednesday: 90 minute yoga class
My yoga class this session is a chronic pain management class being offered for the first time. I think I'll get a lot out of it, but it's definitely not a class I will take on an ongoing basis. Since my class was in the morning, I was planning on walking tonight, but it's raining and looks like a storm is brewing so I'll wait. I plan on walking as soon as Kev gets on the bus, and he has football practice tomorrow so I can walk around campus at night.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

I had good intentions of taking a walk or something yesterday, but I had a day full of meetings (which caused me to miss yoga) and it took me longer to cook up the 25 lbs of tomatoes I bought than I expected. Oh well. I spent the day on my feet, so that had to be a good calorie burn.
Met my friend at the gym again today. It's nice to get out and feel social. I used to hate talking at the gym - I used to get in and get out. How times have changed.
Today's workout:
Lat pulldown - 55x8x3
Bench - 65x8x3
Upright row - 40x8x3
Rear delt raise - 7.5x12x3
OH cable tricep extension - 30x8x3
Cross body concentration curl - 12.5x10x3
I'm not tracking calories, but I know my diet is pretty dang good. I did a farm CSA this summer, so each week I pick up a big box of organic, locally grown veggies. When that started, I started buying my meat in bulk at the butcher, though I get so many veggies that I eat vegetarian a lot of the time. I also started getting local farm fresh eggs and no-hormone milk from a local farm. Very little processed foods - I make my own tortillas, bread, etc. Now that I'm moving again, I expect the weight to start falling off.
The only diet downfall I have is wine. I drank far more than I should have all summer. My typical 1 glass on the porch turned into 2 or 3. Which is fine, it made me happy and kept me relaxed. But it's time to reign that in. My yoga teacher training requires us to be alcohol free for 10 months, so that will correct that problem. I start the class next week. Mike has suggested I start doubling up on my wine consumption now. lol.
Tonight I am planning on walking over to the school to watch a little of Kevin's football practice. It's a couple of miles each way. He's having a really good season, so it's fun to watch. On offense, he's averaging 2-3 carries per game, about 10 yards per game. He kissed the goal line once, but couldn't get the ball over the line for the extra point. On defense, he figured out to be an aggressive tackler. The last game he had a sack and then forced an interception on the very next play when the QB saw him coming for him. If he ever decides to stop playing, I will cry!https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Cardio last night - 4 mile walk
Got that walk in to Kevin's practice, watched about 30 minutes before I had to leave to get home before dark (my neighborhood is hilly, windy and heavily treed). Long enough to hear his coach say to him, "You're playing fullback, right? Go home and start studying the tight end plays. You're tall and big and we need a bigger target out there. The current ends are midgets." I'm not entirely thrilled since he's been having some good runs and if his line could create the holes, he'd have amazing runs. They didn't have a passing play the whole last game, so his time on the ball may be dwindling. In all honesty, he is built like a tight end. It's just not a great position at this level.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Yep, 4 sessions in this week!!!!!
Bulgarian split squat - bwx10x3 ea leg
Hack press - 50x8x3 PWO
RDL - barx12x3
Kneeling leg curl - 20x10x3 ea leg
Used the bench station for the bulgarians so I could use the bar for balance. I did all right standing on the ankle I sprained, but I still don't have full mobility so I needed a little balance when it was up on the bench.
Feel pretty good about the week so far I'm hoping to get a walk in later, but I think Mike is having his girlfriend over and I won't leave them alone in the house. I may be able to convince the and Kevin to go somewhere. We'll see what shoes she is wearing. I don't want to hurt the poor girl. And I need him to save his strength to help me move a refrigerator out of the middle of my kitchen and into the garage. I got the new one last weekend but he hasn't been home long enough to help me move it. I'm tired of maneuvering around it!!!!https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

So far, so good! It actually feels good being at the gym again. One thing I like about the current program is it is very flexible. I'm trying to figure out now how to work this week as I have been working with a friend who is relatively new to weights. We've been doing my routine side by side a couple of days each week, but her schedule this week would have us hitting legs only and we need to work in her upper body. So, I can do legs today, upper tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'll be up to upper on Thursday again. Normally I would push it out and go on the weekend since the kids will be with their dad, but I have my yoga teacher training all weekend. Still, a good problem to have!
What happened to your journal? Going to pick things back up now that the kids are back in school?https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Today's workout was ass backwards as when I got there, the leg press was loaded with 10 plates. My back won't handle unloading that many since they go on the bottom. Luckily, when I moved onto something else someone came and used it and unloaded them.
Leg extension - 50x10x3 PWO
Lying leg curl - 12.5x10x3 PWO ea leg
SLDL - barx8x3
Leg press - 50x8x3 PWO
Seated calf raise - 70x8x3 PWO <--- I forgot how much I hate this "machine"
20 minutes on elliptical
While I was there, I saw one of Kevin's football coaches. The guy is weird. I've introduced myself like 10 times as Kevin's mother and he can't seem to remember who I am. We went to a tailgate party this weekend where I once again reminded him of whose mother I am. Not even 20 minutes later Kevin went over to say goodbye and he asked him if his ride was there. I was standing like 3 feet away. It's very odd that he either has, or pretends to have, a mental block against me. His kids did TKD at the same school as we did so I've been seeing him a lot over the past several years.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

BOR - barx8x3
Cable row - 40x10x3

OH Press - 15x10x3

Tri pressdown - 30x10x3
Curl - 20x12x3
Another good day in the gym. Went shopping for yoga pants afterwards as I'll be wearing them a lot. Do they not test the fabric? Almost every pair I tried on turned see-through when you bent over. Seems like a pretty big oversight for yoga pants,https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Friday - 1 hr yoga
Started yoga training last night. Since it was the first night we had a lot to talk through, so only 1 hr practice. I'm there today 10-6 and tomorrow 9-5, so much more to come.
Interesting side note - I had my physical the other day and grew an inch. I've always about 5'6.5" and rounded up to 5'7. I measured in at 5'7.5". Dr. says its because of the yoga. All those years playing basketball when I wanted to be taller, I never new I could actually grow!
Took my measurements today. Lost a couple of inches, including one in the waist.Last edited by erinlee01; 09-26-2015 at 05:55 AM.

Sunday: yoga - 3 hours
After 3 days straight of yoga, I noticed a huge difference in how I felt. I was able yesterday to get into pose that I couldn't get into, or were afraid to get into, because of my back. Now that I'll be doing it daily, I'm looking forward to see the difference next month,https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

I'm hoping to go for a walk later, if the weather cooperates. Poor Josie was locked up all weekend and deserves a nice walk.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794
