Season series swept the Pens last year on a shoe-string budget
Be mad.
EDIT: Compan, you got the B's beating them in the SCF? I can't see any team in the West taking out the Kings. Sharks center depth is legit but last year was their chance. Goaltending carousel in Anaheim is a nightmare. Blues? No, they're like the food stamps version of LA and Boston. Chi has a chance but I think they've had their time and will start regressing slightly from here on out. Def still in the mix.
Boston can hang with LA, two very similar teams, but LA has players ready to win now while the B's have a combination of aging guys and youth not quite there yet.

I see the Bruins being able to beat the Kings but not going to bet money on it. Like the Kings, when the Bruins are on, healthy and rolling they are hard to beat as they've shown in the past. Last year injuries and inexperience hurt us, but this could be a good year. If Krug and Dougie can make statements this year and McQuaid can stay healthy, I'll be happy with our D. Our forwards are my big question, but I think it's possible. Loui on the first line could turn out well. The Bruins have good depth still. It's a toss up.
I can see the Bruins beating the best of the best but also losing to teams they have no business losing to.

Ovechkin showing some true leadership and letting Staal know that he can't be messing with any of Ovechkin's teammates.
Anyways, the Kings aren't making the Stanley Cup Finals this year. It's tough enough to make it deep in the playoffs in back to back years, but they will not beat Chicago if they face them this year. They've had enough horse-shoes up their ass the past few years and they don't have anymore left.

What are the thoughts on the Avalanche this year? Are they going to take a step forward again, or will they take a step back?

depends on if Varly keeps up his play
Briere and Iggy should be interesting as vets to the young guns. Briere on the PP would be a decent move imo.
Think I heard they have no desire to EVER dump and chase, that fast breaks with offensive d men was all they were ever gonna do, so it should be exciting.
Its whether or not you think Roys system can work in the NHL.
Dallas is looking tough this year though. Especially with their league leading media team.Pec stretches Pec Stretches Pec Stretches

id put Colorado at top 5 for the west, Mackinnon will be better than last year and having iggy on the squad will just have more leadership towards them. Dallas i could see reach some potential with hemsky and spezza. Nashville looks alot different this year too, added Derek Roy, Neal, Jokinen, and Mike Riberio will spike up their offense. If Rinne doesnt get hurt they can be pretty good this year

Hard to say, it's so easy to say how so many teams improved, which I think the Avs have simply by that young talent getting older, adding Iggy just a bonus. But at the end of the day only 8 teams get playoff spots, so it's not how much did the Avs improve? It's did they improve more than the teams surrounding them?
The west is so tough, anyone can make that top 8 except for Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.

Pretty much every analytic out there has them regressing hard plus they got worse, not better. Varlamov is going to have a hard time carrying that team 2 years in a row if they don't change their almost non-existent defensive system.
Hard time making the playoffs imo.Canucks/Chiefs/Jays/Raps
