I think honestly that we will get this from Jay for the next 2-3 years and it is probably legit, ie., like he said, 'some days I wake up and still really have that itch to compete again' et.
That being said, I don't think it will happen. As others said, two torn biceps, atrophied legs, burnt out receptors (as per Ronnie), he can't fix his body. I think he peaked in 2009 and then it was a slow regression from then on.
Any thought of time away from the intense training lending his physique the ability to repair the regression was squashed when he took that year off and then came back in 2013 to place a gifted 6th (probably should have placed 7th-8th).
Still, he probably looked at the lineup this year and the dismal overall conditioning with Phill being off and winning and thought to himself that he could still push it if this was what he had to compete against et.
Interesting that he said in retrospect, he wished he would have taken two years off and done the 50th. Would have been interesting given the poor shape a lot of top guys came in and maybe an extra year and full, proper prep could have had him in the mix of the top 6 instead of out of it.

As far as ronnies nerve damage I believe. Receptors dont burn out. They stop responding to stimulation. Usually your muscle will atrophy all the way. You cant flex it. Its numb. Most have a hard time moving their arm. Ronnies lat was gone. I dont see that with Jay. You can see his muscle flexing. Obviously it still responds. He only prepped for 4 months last time. His biceps are smaller but still look good. Wolfs are horrible looking. Jay with a whole year of prep would most likely be better than his last appearance. I have nerve damage in my back. those areas are still growing. I have a few clients with back issues. They all have made improvements. Ronnie destroyed himself. Jay does not lift like that. I seen him in Vegas 2010. He lifts about as much as most guys cell teching at the gym. You all said he wouldnt compete last time. He did with only 4 months of real prep.

There should be a picture of Dexter Jackson on the IFBB mandate.

Old thread I know, but I'd like to see Jay come back for 5.
In 2013 he didn't come in his best, but I don't think he was 100% focused, he even admitted so.
I think an order for him to have a chance at this point (since he has slimmed down alot) he would need probably a good year and a half of complete dedication. But I don't think he will do that, he is busy with product line, visiting family, promoting the sport, etc.
I don't think it was age as much as lost drive that ended Cutler and I don't completely blame him. He had to chase Ronnie and play the mass game for half a dozen years before defeating him. Then he got defeated and had to reclaim. After all them years he probably started getting tired of having no life.

My avi was taken in January. He still sits over 260. I do not think he would come back but you never know. he is enjoying the traveling and putting a lot into his lines (supps and clothing).

He used to be 300 in off season so he has dropped 40 pounds essentially as he is not near competition ready atm and for him to drop down to low enough body fat for the stage he would come in at 230-240 today.
I think he should just keep on doing what he has been doing since he unofficially retired. Promote the sport and his line. Would be good to see him drop down to a lean 230-240 @ 10-12% body fat. No reason whatsoever for him to still be 260 IMHO. Maybe he has bigorexia but can't say I blame him after being so massive for so many years.THE LEVRONE 2016 MR. OLYMPIA COMEBACK

That is true! I still watch a lot of his old videos and just love that he is so big. Honestly he travels way to much right now and I do not think he could settle down and put 100% back into training/prep. And I agree he should just enjoy life and have fun with what he is doing.

I honestly wonder if he regrets competing in 2013. It seemed like such a needless thing to tarnish one of the best competitive records ever with a 6th place.
It's like if Arnold had tried to come back in 1993 and got 8th. What's the point of damaging your legacy like that? We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.

I hope for his sake he is just stroking his own ego and liking the attention. Which is fine with me. I certainly hope he stays on the sideline and enjoys the next phase of his career gracefully. He had his day
