Dennis Wolf - 2014 Arnold Classic Europe photos/videos

I thought Dennis was very impressive and brought arguably one of his best packages to date that could rival his 2012 AC and 2013 Olympia physiques. So I decided to create a thread to put some of the cool and impressive pictures from last weekend.

I dont want to overcrowd one post so I will keep adding some pictures which I thought he looked good in. I feel like this package would have won most of front shots from Phil dare I say pretty convincingly. In back shots it could be a toss up but I would give side shots to Phil. I dont think any pose would be a landlside for Phil. Wolf's physique has more weaknesses including his left calf but I see a lot of problems with phil too now compared to 2010 or 2011 seasons. Such as his hernia and gut just like Wolf. He looks more blocky than before. However, he is the most developed in every area the most in IFBB from head to toe while having almost perfect proportions. Couple muscle groups are a tad too big for others.

Phil would still probably win but it would be close if they are next to each other in last callout. That is an opinion obviously but even in 2013 and this year Wolf was comparing good to Phil because he has some tools that Phil unfortunately lacks like a better frame, carrying more muscle overall. Again, I think Phil would win but Wolf wouldnt get destroyed by any means.

What's really interesting about Dennis is: his problems are really different than 2007. This year, on olympia and Arnold Classic stage he was the dryest competitor which makes no sense. Dennis almost comes in on to every show. He was the talk of the town and everyone made fun of him from 2008 to almost 2010. Last 4 years, Dennis is coming in to shows with very good packages. Especially since 2013, he stepped on stage looking very good. Like how much his side shots came up is beyond something everyone imagined maybe even Dennis himself. Dennis looked more shredded to my eyes than Phil in this year's Olympia or Shawn Rhoden which both come in with spectacular conditioning. In the videos below, although not on the same level, u can see that Wolf has a look similar to Dorian Yates when he had that thin skin with a lot of dryness to his muscle. My eyes are trained but I dont know how this happens. Maybe learning how to drop your water or certain supplements you use

Some problems with him are(and i dont think he will be able to fix these until the end

Cons

-his glutes: he still cant get them extremely shredded like a Phil or Flex Lewis
-his physique is not as pretty especially midsection
-his calves and especially the nonexistent left one
-symmetry from left to right is lacking on back poses
-lower back not on the same level with upper but at this point doesnt take away from the pose at all



pros
-Carrying so much muscle on a very good frame
-Very impressive conditioning
-Always looks better in comparisons(next to people) than alone
-Weaknesses with physique are much less in numbers and also less relevant to judging system
-Side poses are very strong
-Seems to still improve slightly every year

Personally I think his look at last year's O was better and I'm more of a fan of how he looked in 07, smaller no doubt, but with an extra calf, better detail and AMAZING flow.

With bigger calfs and another 5+lbs of SOLID muscle can push and maybe beat Heath.

Fixed

Bodybuilding can rise to peak interest if Shawn, Wolf n Cedric all come in 100% at all the Arnold Classics ... considering that the Olympia is boring, fixed n repetitive n monotonous.
AC Europe was much more interesting to follow IMO

I actually dont agree with you but I know where you are coming from. His hernia injury and surgery messed up his midsection. The rest of his back and hamstrings grew so much. So wolf improved on the things that judges wanted from him including his conditioning but he ran across other problems like that calf or he gut.(that gut goes to Chad 2008 whatever he did there didnt help)

This version of Wolf although not as pretty or proportionate is easily much more competitive as far as judging goes

I just feel like each physique on each stage/competition can be competitive in different ways. I dont know if I was able to explain but I am sure we can find a handful of people choosing different ones from those options and judges probably rating them even much more different than how we perceive it

Totally right. Given that Phil gets perfect 5s no matter how he looks, he'd have to show up with a missing limb or something for Wolf to touch him.

while i like the calves and insane waist to shoulder ratio, I also like the traps on Wolf. Looks like they will eat his head

Since 07 so much hes changed, even his face, I first saw Dennis in a magzine in summer of 2007 and was a instant fan, known for his massive shoulders and shoulder width, he has brought up his hamstrings so much, they hang and look so impressive. back as well, his waist is still small, and abs are good despite the hernia operation, and most of all, he didnt give up and hes overcame it.

Arnold Europe this year was his best look, he appeared full and shredded and if he came in to the O with this look , I can see him beating anyone. The issue with Dennis is if they dont compare him to the top guys, he doesnt get the chance, look what happened when they moved him over to the side at the prague pro- your eyes didnt compare him-at least thats what I noticed with my eyes.

I havent seen the pictures of his latest second place and where I think he made a mistake is not filling out bc he was already a lil flat at prague, from the arnold, and in his md interview he said he wasnt eating much in the next 12-24 hours to the next show, I think if he ate some carbs , he may have filled out enough to win a third.

It's not about how Phil looks - it's about how he looks in comparison to how everyone else looks. Even when he's off, he still looks better than other guys. 2012 and 2014 were pretty close though.
