Right there with you. Been married for 17 years and rarely wear it. I caught it on my finger a couple of times while lifting, so I usually just leave it off now.

Married 14 years. Broke mine in half first week I owned it, then lost the replacement 2 weeks after that.

Hated the feeling of wearing a ring so much dunno how anyone can. Same thing for watches. Hate the feeling of jewelry. Just in the way all the time.

Wear mine all the time, except for certain exercises where it irritates me. Deadlifts, dumbbell shrugs, and triceps push downs with a rope attachment. I just slip it into my shorts pocket and then put it back on when I'm done.

Married 19 years. Stopped wearing it when I became a millwright 18 years ago. Rings are a good way to lose a finger when working on industrial machinery.

Only take mine off to lift. I didnt always before and then was looking at in one day and realized it was a bit out of round.

Its probably more of a personal comfort thing then a safety concern for lifting. For working around any machinery or rigging it should definitely come off though.

i typically wear mine. I've found that if it is digging in or irritating me during a certain lift, then my grip is probably wrong or my ring is just not where it should be.

with that said, now that i'm deadlifting 315+, I may have to remove it for that because my grip is horrible to begin with LOL

I always take it off for training. Despite being titanium, it gets scratched on the bars. On any pulling exercise it digs painfully into my finger.

Like Dave1958, I'd also heard about people losing fingers from rings. Once from my grandad about an army colleague jumped out the back of a truck and caught his ring, lost his finger, and another one about Castleford Tigers (Rugby League team) coach Terry Matterson jumping over a fence to fetch a ball during a training session, catching his ring on the fence and leaving his finger behind. Not that either circumstance is likely to happen in the gym, but still off putting.

We had a guy ion the job working the tag line( rope attached to the iron) on a beam going up. The tag line got mashed his glove under his ring. When the crane started to fly the piece up, well his hand went along with it for a while...then it was just his glove with half his finger still inside it.

Married 11 years and I do not wear my ring. It doesn't get in the way of lifting but lifting does screw up the finish on the ring and then it looks like crap.

I also work environments where my finger is more important then a ring.

    1. Look up "degloved finger" on an image search.
    2. Consider that getting your ring hooked up on a dropped deadlift bar with 400+lb on it is more than sufficient to lead to that outcome.
    3. Put ring in pocket when training...

I tried lifting with it on, but found that it was painful for certain exercises (deadlifts, pull ups, curls) and decided to no longer wear it at the gym.

I ain't looking up the degloved finger...

Have worn mine 24/7 for 23 years and have no issues with it while lifting. Only side effect is a nice callous just below it.

Been married 14 years. I take mine off.

I know of an Army colonel who was doing pull ups, his ring got caught in the pull up bar. When he let go after doing the last set, his ring finger ripped out.. The doctors were able to reattach the finger, and they had to use leeches (as in the blood sucking tropical bastards) to expedite the healing process.

I always take my wedding ring off before I lift.
The ball and chain I've worn since getting married won't come off though.
