I take mine off- I wore it to the gym a few times and ended up with some marks on the metal from the knurling on the grips of various pieces of equipment. I think my ring is a combination of white gold and some other softer metals, though. We had them custom made, so I feel like the least I can do is take it off when I work out.

I don't wear a wedding ring. I have never liked wearing rings, they drive me nuts. Wife knew that when we got married. The deal was I had to wear it until the end of the reception. That was 23 years ago, I occasionally break it out for weddings and funerals. Other than that it sits in a box....at least I think it does....nobody's got married or died in a few years so maybe she pawned it.

I always had to take mine off in the OR and also when I flew (with the Air Force), and as a flight surgeon I saw plenty of those awful "degloving" photos (and used them for training, too). As a result, I was always inclined to take my ring(s) off whenever I did heavy work of any sort, including lifting. The injuries may be rare, but it only has to happen to you one time to make you regret leaving it on. My wife
Unfortunately, one day walking to the gym in another city where I was on a work trip, the wedding band came off my shoelaces where I had it tied, and was lost in the street. I hope it was found by a homeless person. Anyway, I've been without a ring for the last 2 1/2 years.

Ive taken mine off a few years ago, the tan line and depression of the ring has all but gone. I dont think twice and my wife is fine with it. I do sometimes think what impression people have when they dont see my ring...... The big D? ROFL
I'm open to any suggestions and have a difficult time accepting limitations without an honest effort on my part, you can count on that!

Married 17 years, almost lost a finger with it at my last job, crushed it multiple times to the point of having to quickly cut it off, then lost it when I was installing sprinkler lines at the new house. Tried locating it with a metal detector as we knew the general vicinity, no luck.
Wife replaced it for me with a titanium, took it off for new job (medical field) and lifting.
Recent weight loss made it quite loose, lost it after burning my hand on some coffee at Children's Hospital outpatient Bellevue recently. Unfortunately the sporadic wearing not wearing of it made me not realize it was gone until we were home, 2.1/2 hours away.
Wife doesn't really care about me not wearing it, wasn't too happy about the loss of a "not cheap" ring. I'll probably replace it once I get to my goal weight. But I still won't wear it lifting.1/14 - 315lbs

JRT6 I'm sorry to hear about your wife. That would certainly make me think more about the symbolism of it for sure.
We've been married 34 years, and I seldom wear my ring unless we're going somewhere nice or to a dress event.
Almost lost it on our honeymoon. On a cruise ship leaving the port, standing at the rail doing the obligatory good bon voyage wave, when I felt it slip off. The things the size and weight of a small anchor, so you know when it moves. Saw it flying toward the pier and grabbed it mid-flight! Don't ask me how?
Stepped away from the rail still clutching the ring.
Wife asked what happened and I showed it to her.
The rest of the cruise it stayed locked in the cabin.
30 years in law enforcement and 12 with Uncle Sams Canoe Group, handling lines, climbing ladders, working with weapons, none of which were conducive to wearing a ring.
As a motor-cop, dang thing always pinched my finger on the clutch hand.
I don't wear it in the gym. Dang sure isn't conducive to cross fit, but other than the occasional punch when my grip is off, no problems elsewhere. I don't wear it there because I got tired of leaving gold dust on the knurling!!:-( doesn't make sense to do that much damage to a nice piece of jewelry that means something to you. Don't want it on my pocket (if I'm wearing pockets) just in case it would fall out.Primally Fit and Tactically Prepared.

Thanks. My wife is in remission so every day is a glorious day. However I haven't lost the desire to wear my ring.
My wife bought me a nicer ring years ago and it slipped off at work and was lost. Since then I had the original resized to be tighter. That made it impossible to slip off and too hard to take off for activities which is another reason why I got a couple rubber ones.
