Difference physiologically between IF and exercise

Is there a difference physiologically between a person eating 0 calories on a fixed day and a person eating 600 calories and burning it off through intentional exercise? In other words does IF improve various biomarkers because of a net caloric consumption of 0 calories (whether through not eating or exercising) ? Or does one have to actually not eat during the fasting window?

Note that I know that IF is nothing special compared to other diet plans in terms of body composition. However I am interested in IF and its effects in increasing insulin sensitivity and reducing IGF-1.

Do you have data indicating that fasting improves health in healthy, active, lean people? if so, please share, I'd like to look at it.

IF, CR, KD and HIIT, for example, are all independently associated with reduced cardiometabolic risk markers, with overlap in presumed causative mechanism, with improvements in "health" by several measures often reported in literate, for example in T2D's.

I know about CR, KD and HIIT. I'm only interested in IF. Do you have an example? on healthy lean people.

When I said example I meant a study. I'll search for it.

Edit: I've found one in mice. Now searching for healthy lean people.

I didn't find any study showing improvements in health due to intermittent fasting in healthy lean humans. Anyone?

I don't think that you believe that intermittent fasting has such benefits.

But I COULD just be jumping to conclusions..

You are right, I've never seen such evidence. Usually people refer to research that involves mice, calorie restriction or obese/untrained individuals.

I think Alan Aragon got it right: "I think the popularity of intermittent fasting (IF) is, for the most part, a good vindication of science."
