Champion bodybuilders letting themselves go in the offseason. Looking like fat, soft, untrained versions of themselves.









So looking in near perfect condition for one week of the year only... that's what being a pro is about? that's what millions of gym goers and competitive amateurs aspire to? Damn.

Kai is pretty damn lean in the offseason if you ask me. Striated quads and feathered lats.

Btw, Arnold would sometimes get skinny-fat in his offseason. He's got pics of it in the New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding. He'd take some time off being enhanced, a break from the weights, and the would start lifting again and would take his gear again, especially the closer he got to a show.

OP have you ever dieted for a contest? It's extremely hard to maintain the level of conditioning you achieve on the day of the show. The pros aren't anywhere near "fat" in their offseason, brb full sixpack, feathered quads and lats... The pictures you posted are of them under stage lighting. If you saw them in the gym they would probably look shredded to you. They just take certain things that make their water retention go up offseason.

That's what sitting at over 20 stone bodyweight around 5'9 with abs looks like under stage lights. Lee Priest actually let his bodyfat get out of control in the offseason; most of those examples are definitely not that.

To put things in better perspective, you're gonna have to learn how to read. No chance that most of the pics you showed have guys carrying 60lbs fat TOTAL, let alone excess. The fact is all these guys are overweight in CONTEST condition - these guys are HUGE, and that's simply what huge looks like. But 60lbs excess with abs and striations? Nah. Sorry.

And of course you're taking things wildly out of perspective into the realm of total fantasy by applying a level of excess that even the biggest bodybuilders in the world at their most unpleasantly bloated aren't carrying in terms of offseason fat, to a 120lbs woman for the purposes of "perspective". Your example serves to do nothing but put your perspective completely arseways. Really, try to imagine her 60lbs overweight with striated thighs

Walking around under 15% bodyfat at 280lbs+ at 5'9 under stage lights - this is most of the stuff your posting, and that's what it looks like.



^^^ Really, next to losing all his muscle mass in the offseason, what exactly can he do to not look bloated under those circumstances? Really, that's the only solution in most of your examples: Stop growing yer muscles so damn big and you won't look bloated under stage lights while being lean enough to have striated eyeballs.

It's probably the only way really you can taper down the gear much lower and still maintain the strength, intensity, and volume of workouts. Let's face it, gaining 40-50 lbs of water and fat in the offseason is not adding any stage weight for the top 10 bodybuilders. They do it because they can. Contest preps suck and are not healthy. Look good for 1 to 4 shows and line up your photoshoots. Wear an oversized t-shirt and shoot videos inclining 405 for reps the rest of the year.

A lot of physique guys seem to stay reasonably conditioned throughout the year (yes it's probably easier).

to look as good as they possibly can on show day, they can't stay too lean during offseason.. plus i think it's a lot more stressful on their bodies. lots more drugs needed to look shredded at 250 than 15% at 280 or w/e
