    Something snapped in my shoulder

Hello there, I'm new to this awesome website and I just got home from the gym due to an injury. I was doing Chest press in a machine and something snapped on the top of my right shoulder. Now when I move it it hurts all the time and especially when I go to 90* degree angle. Is there anyone who knows what this possibly could be and how long the recovery time would be?

    Thanks in advance, Christian Sweden

People on this forum aren't doctors, at best you'll get a guess, which is pretty meaningless. If it still hurts under movement tomorrow or gets worse i'd go to a doctor.

True, I was just interested if someone else has been out for the same issue.

definitely get it checked ASAP! I've had this before and it was a torn/damaged ac tendon. recovery time depends on the severity of it. Get it looked at and avoid weights until it is better. if you can't do upper body, then this would be the time you could do some mad legs and abs.

check the link to see if this sounds like it could be you

Thanks for the link! And thanks for all the support etc. Feeling very welcomed to this site. When I read on the link they refer to problems when you've fallen on it or being hit, however, is the outcome the same if it comes from simply pushing too much weight?

Now, a couple of hours after the incident it hurts when I do movements ahead of me and when I go up to a 90* angle. So I'd say that I have a Grade 1, mild injury.. =/

You should try to lower weights next day and if movement still hurts, take some rest, ice it, take some anti inflammatory (nutrition check with a lot of vitamins). Take some glutamine if you have just in case and go see a doc. Dont try to train if it hurts, you will just make it even worse. I snapped my distal biceps tendon (i injured it) didnt rupture tho. But it hurts when i do back etc so i took a week off and trying to get back with lower weights. Just dont rush it or you will prolong injury even more.

I wouldn't be surprised if this = you.

Tell me, put your arm all the way down at your side and lift it again. Is it difficult to get the movement started? Does it hurt more?

You should go get this checked out by a doctor.

Go see an orthopedist who's specialty is the shoulder. He'll run you through a series of tests to determine the issue and from there can look at further tests (MRI) or a treatment plan.
