anyone who is upset for kai can learn so much from watching that interview, amazing words and the manor in which he carried himself in defeat is really inspiring. not sad, not angry, not resentful, no remorse, just pure positivity and joy and appreciation and humility. very spot on everything he said in this interview. respect for kai. he has a beautiful mind.
At the end of all of this, just as kai alluded to, "I am not a judge, that is not my assignment." I think we can all learn from this and instead of trying to use the worst photos we can find of a particular athlete to try to justify a prediction or a wish, rather just appreciate the contest for what it is and the celebrate how bodybuilding fans from all over are joined each year for one amazing weekend. The Road To Success Is Paved With Many Failures

Kai has the respect from the thousands and thousands he has entertained, awed and inspired over the years. He has taught us that if you believe, you can achieve. He is a true inspiration, a true legend and will forever be the people's champ, not only because of his drive, determination and perseverance but also because of his acts of humility in the face of both victory and defeat.

Sometimes, in life with the shock of an event you can be gracious for what you have lost and try to look at it from a positive side and when asked to share your feelings, you might end up acting strong and believeing in yourself
Down the road, maybe not so long after, you realize you didnt face defeat(loss) yet and end up very demoralized and depressed unfortunately.
In his case, Kai might not take this loss well at all a week from now and how can he? How can you accept your fate when you have done all that you could and most people believed and told you, you were the better man... It is easier said than done and it crushed him so hard as you could see from his eyes.
It is so hard to understand what people go through in their lives with their personal losses. I feel for himGrainy hardcore religious slabs of thick dense muscle. So grainy that it hurts your eyes

really ? hes getting old man muscle , compare this to 2012 and you suddenly notice how much worse it looks,
his biceps and triceps are looking more stringy then ever and this will only get worse, the short insertions are also not helping him at all.
his chest together with chest detail is fading ever so slightly.
honestly i thought more people would notice this but apparently Kai is valued way too high on this forum

I think he means signs of "atrophy" which I don't personally see any signs of when looking back and comparing his physique over the past few years. True that time is not on his side but just because competitors like Jay fell apart at 40, doesn't mine Kai is destined to follow the same path. Ronnie won an O is his early 40s and Dex has not slipped at now 44.
I thought this was Kai's big chance also because of the 40 year mark approaching but really, it is just a number and Kai has no signs of atrophy or regression as oppose to say someone like Branch who despite coming in conditioned in obviously fading.THE LEVRONE 2016 MR. OLYMPIA COMEBACK

Exactly! Kai's fans could learn a thing or two from Kai himself. I got the same impression from DLB and her fans at the expo after the final placings were announced for Women's Physique.
Agreed about Kai, but disagreed about Phil. Also, we can't tell if Kai is a future Mr. Olympia, although it would be awesome if he got to win it someday.

This.
Look at the former top IFBB pros of the last 2 decades, and you'll see what caused their physique to deteriorate (and eventually forced them into retirement) wasn't age itself, but injuries. What do Dorian, Ronnie, Jay, Kevin (with Branch and Victor going down the same path) have in common? They all suffered muscle tears and other injuries, which caused training setbacks and ruined their physique to some extent. Dorian retired after the 1997 Olympia when he was 35 years old (only a year older than Phil is now). I don't think age was really a factor in his regression, nor Kevin Levrone, who competed in his last Olympia at 37. Guys like Kai and Dexter are getting up there in age yet showing no signs of regression, because they've been able to avoid chronic injuries. That's the difference between bodybuilders who have great longevity in the sport and those who don't.
