    Needing Serious Advice!

    Here's the deal. I'm 19, my height is 6'1 and I weight 221. I recently became more serious about the gym but wonder what kind of program I should be following. I originally had a plan to drop down to at least 180 and work my way back up to 225 but just pure lean muscle mass. I recently had a body building friend tell me not to worry about dropping down. Being young I need some guidance and I'm wondering what I should work towards. Any questions, please let me know.

    Post a pic, but at 230 I suspect you need to cut quite a bit of fat.

    My current body fat is unknown and I'm wondering if I should cut then build or just build.

    Honestly.. You need to lose about 40 pounds of fat and then start rebuilding yourself.

    That said, you are not going to end up..

    225 but just pure lean muscle mass
    For that to be possible you would need to have at least 197-200# of lean mass on your frame and that is not realistic on a 6'1" person. Not unless you are planning to devote at least the next ten years of your life to little more than bodybuilding.

    200# at 10-12% Bf .. that is possible in 2-3 years though.
