This is what I was thinking. I never would have thought of it but they were just talking about it on ESPN and it sparked my interest. He's still young and barring injury I would say he's more likely than not to be the first.

that could be a thread in itself. We may hate them, but kickers decide 80% of games. Is there not a more important asset to a team than a good kicker? That bugs me they keep kickers out.

he broke the return td record in 70 something games. It took the guy before him 220 something games to score as many return tds. Plus he doesn't get nearly as many opportunities because Lovie is a dumbass and took him of kickoffs and had him timesharing punts with manning and knox or whatever. The guy is the most dominant player at his position in the history of the game = hall of famer

People said he was done when they put him at receiver 2 years ago and didn't get any return TDs.

Then suddenly last year he busted like 6. Just last week he nearly busted a kickoff TD and returned a punt for TD.

He's still beastly at returning. He will be in the hall of fame.

Yes, hester could end his career now, and probably still end up being the first return specialist in the hall of fame. Devin Hester is the most prolific kick returner in NFL history. Four games into his sixth season, he already holds career records for punt-return touchdowns 11 and total kick-return touchdowns 15. He also was the first ever to return a TD on opening kick off at a superbowl

I think he has 16 return TDs in his career (15 regular, 1 post). Like others have said, he'd get more attempts if Lovie let him be their primary return man. Also, the other team constantly kicks it away. His mere presence gives the Bears extra yards on punts/kickoffs.

Kickoff & Punt Returners are a position on the field just like any other, and special teams is 1/3 of the game. He's demonstrated to be the best and most dangerous at what he does during his era and is probably considered by many to be the best and most dangerous at what he does in NFL history. If you're the very best in league history and what you did at your position, you deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Also, Cribbs has a chance in joining Hester as far as total return TDs go. Cribbs does have a couple hundred return opportunities on Hester though (I think it's crazy if you think Cribbs deserves to be in the HoF imo though).

No. He doesn't do anything exceptionally well besides return punts and kicks. He's a below average receiver aside from that.

the top 26 scorers in NFL history are kickers.. kind of a useless stat, but still interesting
