Being 6'5 deads are awkward sometimes and I've always had back rounding problem with conveniental. I've been watching dan greene a lot so I tried his form. Double over hook grip and wide sumo. Feels so much more comfortable for me.

Conventional for sure, still don't like sumo deadlifts, don't do a lot of them either. I have standard plates (much smaller than 45lb plates) so I start off very low, unless I put something under the weights or bar...
Bench: 90kgx3 (176lbs) Max: 225lbs
Deadlift: 130kgx5 (290lbs)
Squat: Up to 250 on 5x5. 315 lbs max.

From where I'm stocky with broad shoulders I deadlift strongman style.
It's between sumo and conventional when it comes to foot placement. A little wider than conventional but not as wide as sumo, with your hands outside your legs with your hands and arms touching your legs.
I pull sumo too sometimes for am accessory movement. My sumo pull is usually about 50 pounds behind my normal pull.
It's best to do all variations of deadlift in your workout.
My workout will be like this for a light day
Competition deadlift stance - 8 sets of 2
Sumo deadlift - 2 sets of 5
Block deadlift - 2 sets of 5
Close stance deficit deadlift - 2 sets of 5
I don't pull much though.
This last 10 week training cycle before my meet (2 and a half months) I only deadlifted like 3 times.
From where my deadlift and squat stance are so similar, the only difference being I angle my toes more on squat, my deadlift is usually about 30-40 pounds behind my squat
So I know as long as my squats going up so is my deadliftBest meet lifts (all raw): 865 squat, 565 bench, 720 deadlift.
Best meet total: 2110
Gym lifts: 903 squat, 565 bench, 725 deadlift.

Disagree. I agree that sumo uses more hips, it's pretty obvious to anyone who has deadlifted sumo. However look at the stance in sumo vs conventional. Individual leverages will play a part, but for the most part sumo is more upright while conventional has a torso angle closer to horizontal. With a more horizontal torso angle, the weight is pulling on your lower back more requiring greater isometric strength to hold that neutral spine. With sumo, the upright posture means your quads do most of the work breaking the weight off of the ground. And because your knee joint is more closed with sumo, your quads must be used more to achieve full knee extension. I also feel that sumo uses glutes more however I'm not sure of the reason why on that one.
None of this is that big of a deal in the end, the important thing is just to lift. Congrats on the meet by the way, very impressive stuff.

Hey bud, I'm not as popular on here as you (lack of time to post), so you may not recognize me. Wanted to ask how your cut is coming along.
I only dead lift conventional. I am 6'4" and my current PR is 425 lbs x 1 when I was bulking at 221 lbs. (I have vid proof of 405 but not 425)I help people get certified as a personal trainer and build fitness businesses.

Conventional, can't pull sumo because my groin couldn't take it.
