He's past his prime and he knows it. Last year was the nail in the coffin so to speak, he just hasn't made it official. I love Jay and was really pulling for him to come back and win it last year. But after seeing him onstage and getting 6th even I knew he wasn't the dominant Bodybuilder he used to be. That being said, he has nothing left to prove. The guy has been to the top, stayed there for years and years. Time to focus on other things and let his legacy do the talking. He's still "King Cutler" in my book.

^This. I was/am a big Cutler fan and yeah, I also knew he was definitely done after seeing what he came with last year on stage. We all knew he was in the twilight but a handful thought maybe with that year off, his body would recover some, but that was not the case unfortunately.
Anyways, he said he was all about downsizing to 220-230lbs and being more "aesthetic" and looking forward to it so he could try different sports/activities and also buy clothes without having to use a tailor.
A year later and a few weeks ago in a video he was looking big and said he was at around 270 lbs. :|
I don't know, maybe he thinks it will affect his supplement line if he downsizes or maybe it is partly psychological thing, must be hard to go from looking like a super hero to an average "jacked" guy at the gym. Never understood it with Ronnie either, why he has stayed so big after his retirement.THE LEVRONE 2016 MR. OLYMPIA COMEBACK

It is a lot easier to maintain muscle mass than it is to gain muscle mass.
What it takes to get to heavyweight levels, isn't anywhere what it takes to maintain a 30lbs reduction later. But that isn't coming from me..
Dante Trudel who I respect greatly was talking about all the people he has trained and including himself and found that to be true in every single one of them. Heavyweights who maintained a significant amount of muscle on less supplements after many years... which relates heavily to...
Muscle memory
Muscle memory is real for instance but I feel that 90% of people don't actually understand the science behind it or how it actually works physiologically. I'd be happy to explain that on here but this isn't a good section to spark up science topics. If you want to know then I'll respond later but if not that is cool too.
I just don't like seeing people think something that is most likely untrue if I can help it.
