There is a machine that works using a cord that is wrapped around a round metal piece. As the user pushes a lever, the rounded metal piece rotates, pulling the cord which is attached to weights.
The cord is threaded through a metal pipe and the base of the cord is attached to a metal piece that is threaded for a screw, but the threaded bit isn't long enough to reach the metal pipe because the cord has stretched.
Is there an easy way to fix this problem and what tools would i need?
My current idea is to cut off the threaded metal piece and some of the cord, and then bond the threaded metal piece to the end of the cord, but it would have to support up to 200 pounds plus the torque created by the bending of the cord and I'm not sure if there is something strong enough to do that.
