Do people not understand that the bar is connected to their hands/arms and thus doesn't weigh anything? Obviously the weights aren't, which is why they are hard to press. The bar, on the other hand, just goes up and down with your body. So why are two plates counted as 225lbs and not 180lbs?

Not sure if srs OP?
Have you even considered the holes in the plates? Obviously the weight of the bar is included to offset the weight lost by counting a plate as its full mass."A man should not leave this earth with unfinished business. He should live each day as if it was a pre-flight check. He should ask each morning, am I prepared to lift-off?"

if the bar is connected to my hands/arms and thus doesn't weigh anything, and the plates are connected to the bar....then the plates are indirectly connected to my hands/arms and thus don't weigh anything?
