Night crew poll question:

You can only have 1 rifle caliber and 1 pistol caliber. Which two do you choose and why? You have 10 cases of each delivered to your house each year so cost is not a deciding factor.

If I could only have two calibers, meaning I couldn't supplement it with another at my own cost, and I had to do everything with it to include hunting, defensive, plinking, and general fukkery........
I think I'd have to go against the grain and go 7.62x51 and 22LR. Semi-auto battle rifle and bolt gun for the x51. Suppressed semi-auto pistol and semi-auto/bolt rifle for the 22. You should never be without a 22.

I didn't read much more of the steel vs. ceramic discussion you guys had, but in regards to the ceramics plate not being able to take more than one hit, one of the team leaders in another platoon in my company was hit five times with an AK in the back plate. No penetration or fragmentation. The CO of another company in my batt took three AK rounds to his chest plate. No penetration or fragmentation. I don't know much about the ceramic plates or if the ceramic plates you guys were talking about were not the same ESAPIs that we use, but I know of two people who took multiple hits to their plates. I'm no expert on plates but I just have those two instances to reference.

I should have clarified my statement on ceramics only taking one hit. MOST ceramics can only take one hit, at least the ones that most of us could acquire. The ones your guys were wearing were more than likely boron carbide, which would fall in the procon price range.

Whatever ESAPIs are made of, that's what we used. I'm pretty sure they were also weighed more than 7 pounds. I'm confident in the AR500 steel plates. The reduction in thickness is a big plus too.

I ordered one of these strictly for kayaking/camping trips and its not too shabby of a bag. A lot more room compared to a double backpack. I can fit a pup tent, medical supplies, sleeping bag, clothes, food, ammo and firearms without any problems. I now use it for my go bag. It's no Gregory pack but it gets the job done

My department is trying out lapel cameras and I got to wear one during a sporting event I was working. I walked up to a group of 3 guys who were acting strange and one pulls out his phone and says "You are being audio and video recorded." I pointed to my camera and said "so are you." We talked for bit and I moved on. I don't understand the big deal about being recorded while you are doing your job. It could get annoying having your own paparacci follow you around watching and recording your every move like your Kim Kardashian. Other then that, wanna waste your time videoing me hoping for a negative reaction to get YouTube views, be my guest.

I doubt it. If I hadn't ordered the bag with the hydration bladder from national park depot I would cancel my order and buy it from amazon. I may still go ahead and get one from amazon in multicam.
